well, she IS a soul singer, whether you and i think she's a particularly good one being beside the point. a song is a song. if it's arranged/sung soulfully, then it's a soul song. although i do agree she tries way too hard to sound soulful. she'd probably be a better soul singer X 10 if she would just lay off a little. i think she has it in her. but either she thinks, or somebody's telling her, that she needs to "soul it up" a little to sell the whole "serious soul singer" thing to establish cred. to me, it's backfiring, but apparently it's working with everybody else. | |
