Maxwell "Greatest Hits" CD

I found this site, and they say there is a Maxwell "Greatest Hits" CD to be released on October 11th.

Actually, NOW was better than that mess EMBRYA. But as far as his Greatest Hits, wouldn't it JUST be MOST of UHS? LOL!

Did you like Maxwell's song "Fortunate" on the "Life" soundtrack?

LOL! Embrya sounds like UHS outtakes and should be flushed down every toilet on the planet. NOW sounds cohesive and polished.

Thats whats so bad about it in my opinion.. the polished sound..

I dig a structured song.. but an album like NOW sounds so rediculous after the two gems he layed out on the table..

highfive

Embrya is much, much better than that RnB wannabe stuff called Now.
UHS and Emnrya had a certain class, a unique style, whereas Now sounds like it has no direction.

It had that "underwater direction" lol
I respect your opinion, but why exactly do you prefer Now over Embrya ??
Embrya has that wonderful airy, dreamy atmosphere and there are a lot of great songs on it. Now was a bit boring, IMO.

Embrya sounded like he was frontin' over being this artsy-fartsy type. NOW was just more polished and slicker, that's why I liked it.

the live version on his MTV unplugged album of "this woman's work" sounded way better than the album version.

Embrya is one of those albums that seperates the fans... and it puts the fans in categories.. for instance...

the heated debate about Voodoo of D.. it seperated the "Polished" r&B songs from his more abstract work..

Maxwell had the simular career path. With Embrya he created a abstract piece thats more detailed than most music today.

I can see someone not "Getting" embrya.. but its okay.. its there for those of us that appreciate it for what its worth.. and hearing the r&b i've heard in the last 5 years.. its worth a whole hell of a lot.

i don't know if its about "getting it" or not, i just simply didn't care for the album and I couldn't get into it, thats all. I love all sorts of r&b, so just because I didn't "get" the album doesn't mean that I love listening to certain kind of r&b music. I don't know if thats what you were trying to say or not, but this is just my 2 cents on it.

Not in a intelligence way.. but many people drift off when these songs are playing.. like their attention span needs a more definant concrete hook.

I believe a lot of hard work went into embrya. and I also think record executives would not like an album with this much depth. Much of it wasnt for radio.. it was more a concept album.. dreamy funk-like substance flowin thru the speakers.. smile

This album will definanlty stand the test of time.. I'm positive when people rediscover this album in the future it will satisfy for its originality in its sound.

To each his own. I love all his albums.

Well, I'm thinking that he's off the label(Sony). Maybe he wanted to be dropped.

This is usually when a "Hits" collection comes so early in somebody's career.

Didn't Epic put out a Macy Gray "Best Of" also? LOL!
