GARBAGE taking an 'indefinite break' From Billboard:
Garbage Embarking On 'Indefinite Break'
By Christie Eliezer, Melbourne Rock act Garbage will take "an indefinite break" after its Australian tour ends Oct. 1 in Perth. "We're taking a hiatus -- I don't know if we're calling it a day," singer Shirley Manson told the Melbourne Herald Sun. A group spokesperson had no comment on the developments. Rumors have been circulating that things were not right in the Garbage camp after the band cancelled European dates scheduled after the Australian tour. Band members admitted Garbage almost broke up during the making of its latest album, "Bleed Like Me," but later insisted they were thrilled with the finished product. "Because we were on the verge of losing it all, we made the album of our career," drummer Butch Vig told Billboard. "We feel completely rejuvenated." The set debuted in April at a career-best No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 245,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the band's first top 10 Modern Rock hit since 1998 with "Why Do You Love Me," which reached No. 8. "We've not stopped for 10 years," Manson told the newspaper. "We always swore if it wasn't 100% fun, we'd stop it." http://www.billboard.com/...1001178063

That's fucking beat, I haven't heard much from them in sometime anyway. Some bands sometimes maybe its just me seem like they just fall off the face of the earth bloody hell!

I saw them on tour earlier this year. Their live show was really good. The new album isn't bad either. "Bleed Like Me" got a really nice remix for clubs by Eric Kupper. It's currently top 10 on Billboard's dance chart.

If they go away for good and Manson doesn't do any solo work, her presence will be sorely missed.

Their problem is/was is that they weren't prolific enough and lacked any sort of personality. Bleed Like Me was a very good album. They just weren't around enough.

i tried to get into the new cd but, honestly, i think its really bad. bad lyrics, bad melodies. i never thought they were a great band by any means but i used to enjoy them.
besides, shirley will be back with a solo record or new band soon.

i love the new album and i love them. they are this generation's eurythmics.
and im bummed i missed them on this tour. ive seen them live twice and they kicked ass both times. and whoever doesnt like bleed like me...it takes awhile to get into. but once you're there, you're there. it's a great record. especially tracks 3 thru 8. pure pop/rock/electronica/dance/metal brillance. one of my fave bands of all time... R.I.P garbage I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Not prolific, I agree! Lacked personality? Yeah i never feel like they are a 'real' band just a really cool project that pops up now and again to make music. I love Shirley Manson and she's one hell of a frontwoman but she fronts a band thats kinda faceless and too clinical. Garbage are a strange one and i can see why people would be turned off. They just lack something that makes you warm to them.
