Mj & body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)

If anyone caught OPRAH yesterday, she discussed BODY DYSMORPHICH DISORDER..

Basically it is a psychiatric condition which makes someone think that they are extremely unattractive which can lead to drastic plastic surgery's etc...

It was interesting b/c OPRAH mentioned that when she did the MJ interview in 1992// Her & Michael had an agruement concerning who would edit the master TAPE of the program.. in the end.. MJ gave in. So, she went on to say that when they were going thru. photos of Michael in his youth and teenage yrs.. he covered his eyes and screamed "I'm ugly" .. OPRAH said she believes that he does suffer from BDD..especially since she felt that is when he looked his most handsome.

No it wasn't, it was February 1993. I still have the date etched onto my videotape. It was the next thing he did after the 93 Superbowl halftime show.

It was February 1993. Damn, if MJ thinks he's ugly, I wonder what he thinks of his siblings?

i think he has always thought he looked ugly...remember in the movie when he said that his nose was way too big, and he had bad acne and all...thats when it began I guess.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I caught the last half of the Oprah show yesterday and it hurt my heart to see those people talk about themselves like that. I have to agree, MJ more than likely has this disease. He was a good looking man back in the day and to see where he is today it's just downright depressing. It's proof that the mind is a very powerful thing, for the best and for the worst. MJ needs prayer, plain and simple.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

wow CalhounSq, how can you be so insensitive!?! You do realise that this is a psychological disorder, and not just a bunch of "bastards" who want to look better. That is like saying I've lost my patience with people who have depression "WAAAA, I'm sad!!"

Actually, when I took Psychology at the college I was in about 2-3 years ago, our professor actually gave a lecture on BDD and stated that Michael Jackson was an obvious example.

And it's true. Mike has all the classic symptoms. It's kind of ironic how he got surgery to look better and wound up looking like a space alien porcelain doll. Not to dog him, I love the guy, but it's the truth.

I wouldn't doubt it. All signs seem to point to MJ having this disorder. I can't imagine someone mangling their face like he has just for the hell of it.

I'm not insensitive, I just lost patience w/ those muufuckas lol

They need help, therapy. What am I supposed to do, cry over the shit? confused

Everything is a disease now. These muufuckas were probably too fixated on their looks to begin with. I ain't losin' sleep over people who can't look in the fucking mirror, there's way bigger shit in the world... like having your face blown the fuck off or acid poured over you or being covered head to toe w/ 3rd degree burns. THOSE are the Oprah guests that make me shed a tear, not these head cases. neutral

I agree with CalhounSq on this one. There are people that are truly hurt by others and then there is this.

Shrivel up & die b/c kids are mean & adults are assholes?? lol Gimme a break hammer

As for people w/ this "disease" rolleyes I can't sit up here & lament on folks who just can't bear to look in the mirror omfg while there are REAL problems in the world sigh Maybe their parents should have taught them that the outer self is NOT the be all/end all. So sorry... you really missed my point neutral

Ah, but your general BDD "sufferer" is someone who has all this plastic surgery but spends ALL their money and savings, getting into debt to do this to themselves. They aren't formerly cute kids being told by their parents, siblings and even the public that they are ugly.

Although, it's like a more expensive and complicated version of an over-eater. When you see those freaks who are so fat they have to be removed from their beds with a crane, you just think to yourself that this person MUST have been able to see that there was a serious problem when they were half their current weight and less. But since they're bed-ridden, it's their friends and family to blame too.

Meh, dunno how relevent that is though.
