Björn and Benny personally approved Madonna´s sampling of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, says publishing director Martin Ingeström.
The only artist to have been authorized to sample ABBA before are the Hip-Hop group The Fugees. They sampled The Name Of The Game for their song Rumble In The Jungle.
Bloodshy And Avant wrote two songs: How High and Like It Or Not.
According to plans the single Hung Up will be released 17th of October.
And new information says that Johan Renck ("Nothing Really Matters") will direct the video for Hung Up.

I'm glad Madonna and her brother-in-law get along so well.

He is also the guy that rushed Madonna to the hospital when she gave birth to Lourdes.

I dont think American Life was totally uninspired. Some of them disconnected from the fans, especially the casual ones. But their were also some really great trax like "Nothing Fails", "Love Profusion" and "Mother and Father". It's probably Madonna's most misunderstood album.

With that being said, Im overjoyed that there's so little Mirwais on the album. Madonna's always been about moving on, and if she wanted to make something truly fresh, she had to limit his input. I like how she kind of throws her collaborators to the curb after a while. Where's Babyface? Where's William Orbit? Mirwais is bordering extinction in the Madonna world, and Stuart Price will probably be 86'd within an album or two.

But hey,it's all part of the creative process. Cant wait till the new album. Im sure it's gonna be great.

The way I see it, she stopped being Madonna after "Ray of Light".
She should have done something else again, like a more rocky sort
of album or -what i've always hoped for- a radiohead kind of lp,
with deeper lyrics and weird ambients (like Mer Gerl x infinity).

Having said that, I still like her albums smile (im funny like that)
but "Music" and "American Life" both didn't hold my attention for
long ("Ray of Light" was on perpetual rotation for TWO YEARS).

They both contain some very strong material but it gets lost in a
mix of good, bad and just horrible or silly. Combined, they would
make for a decent, cool album's worth of material. Well crafted &
classic tunes.

But as is, she seems to have entered her own "New Power Soul" sort
of era where she makes albums that are watered down versions of a
trick she did a million times better before.

Anywho, I'm still anxious for this album and I'm sure I will buy
it, just to hear what it sounds like and because with madonna, no
matter how silly or runbynumbers her albums get, you just know she
will have at least 2 or 3 classic tunes on an album that you'll be
spinning for years and years to come.

I agree. "Ray of Light" was on repeat play for me for a loooong time and I thought I had become a Madonna fan. I realized when "Music" came out I was just a "Ray of Light" fan.

I like about 1/2 of "Music" and about 3-4 songs from "American Life," but I don't think it's Mirwais that brings those discs down. I like his sound alot. It's the ridiculously dumb lyrics of alot of the songs, esp. on "Life."

I'm really looking forward to this disc though. I dig the "Hung Up" clip.

I completely agree with that! I don't know, perhaps the lyrics aren't
even that horrible but in comparison to the ones on Ray of Light she'd
just taken a huge step backwards again in her progression as a writer
and that made me cringe.

Funny "paradise: not for me" just comes up on shuffle now and that is
one of the songs I dig a lot on "Music". The lyrics aren't really very
deep or anything but at least they're not so horribly childish and the
song flows along on a nice tapestry of Mirwais produced sounds and he
sound fine to me as well.

It's just when she gets all silly and kicks out on a dancebeat trying
to be 13 years old, singing "journal style amore", that's when it all
goes horribly wrong.

I was pleasantly surprised to read that she uses bad language on the
new album hehe. Bring on the fucks and bitches and assholes.

Music was a good album. Their was 1 or two songs that didnt grab me, but most of the album is quite solid. The best songs are the straight up dance numbers, which is why I'm glad she stuck to making an uptempo album this time around.

I really dig the "Hung Up" clip, so I have high expectations. lol

I think Music is way better than Ray Of Light.
As a pop album it's a lot more well rounded
& very diverse. & Why would u wanna compare the
lyrics? It's obvious that the record has
a very different approach 2 sound & word.
ROL was more melancholly, that prolly gives
it the edge over music in terms of artistic
cred. 'paradise' is just the shit!
...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...
