I used to be huge fan but kinda wavered about five years ago but i gotta hand it to her with the album artwork. That is the best sleeve i've seen in years. The art of the album cover is basically dead with too many crappy looking photoshop jobs but that is genius. Hope the album is as good.

The cover's kinda tacky, IMO, but I'm happy to see she's looking backward again--both in the sound and literallY!

These song titles suck. They all sound corny as hell.

"Let it will be" WTF??

There is a song called "Jump" and then another called "How High" right after it? LOL! That is too much.

A recycled song from "bedtime stories"

and "Isaac" oh gaaaaawd
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

if the rumors of the album being mixed as one continuous piece (with no breaks between songs) then that makes some kind of sense.

then again, i hope that rumor is false. i fucking hate when tracks bleed into each other. sure, it sounds nice on the album. but then, that's really all you can do with it from that point forward. it just has to sit there on the album, unless there's some convenient spot near the end to fade (which is an even bigger problem with the BEGINNING of a track), or unless it shows up in its original un-cross-faded form on a single.

it's right up there with segues and skits as one of the more pointlessly pretentious trends in recorded music.

it's probably because it's a dance album and most cds put out by DJ's are done that way

yes, the problem being 99.9% of the people whose hands this album falls into aren't going to be DJ's. in fact, i doubt the DJ's will be thrilled with it either, when they want to isolate the tracks for their own purposes.

i hate the idea of a continuously running album, and it's a horrible notion for someone trying to have a hit album after a record that didn't do so well.

but maybe she doesn't care if its not a huge album, she just wants to do her thing. which is cool too.

consdering the "no ballads, no messages" statement, and the major marketing campaign that's been planned, the entire thing seems to be designed as nothing BUT a huge hit.

unfortunately, even though this is exactly the kind of thing i wanted her to do after AL (which i loved, btw), so far, i'm non-plussed by everything i've seen and heard. the song, the commercial, the cover, etc.

I think you all need to be a bit positive. The cover isnt bad for a "dance" album, and the snippet sounds pretty cool. For christ sake, dont judge a song based on a 20 second sample.

As for the continuously running album concept...i think its a bit hit or miss. It could work, especially since its geared towards the dance genre, but it could backfire on the average joe who wants to skip a track.

Overall, I really think Madonna has a hit in her hands. Trust me, if it's nowhere near American Life(which is underrated in it's own way), it'll be fine.

O btw, there's talk of the Hung Up video simultaneously premiering on MTV, VH1 and the LOGO channel. Thats kinda smart. Satisfy the kiddos, satisfy the old farts, and satisfy the queers.

I like the idea of the songs blending into each other without any pauses. This is a technique that was done alot in the late 70s' disco era. This album is clearly aimed at the dancefloors/nightclubs.Madonna is returning to her roots.

I agree with your view...Also I have the idea that madge is trying to recreate the sound of the "Madonna" album (still one of her best) with an electro zest of Stuart Price...Also I sense some funk bass there!

Call me crazy, but this what I see!

Maybe she's aiming for a gayer, campier and edgier goldfrapp sound (Which will be a blessing!).

Also she's aiming at her most loyal fanbase: the gay community. They are the ones that spend more money on music imo!

more rumours:

A Possible Plot For 'Hung Up' Video.

The definitive draft for Madonna's new video is going to be decided these hours.
Drownedmadonna can reveal one of the most interesting plot picked for the video, which hopefully will be used.
London is the scenario
Our girl in a english townhouse is bored ( " time goes by so slowly ") and decides to leave.
Her people ( even bodyguards) look for her, but Madonna plays a " catch me if you can" game. The sharp angles and the pans of which we told you days ago will be used by cameras to give a feeling of pursuit ; a second woman – dressed exactly like Madonna – will be seen stealing into the center of the group.

At one point , Madonna is seen , surprisingly among common people dancing her routine.
People from the street will have for sure actual reactions, wich are supposed to be filmed by hidden cameras!
Apparently the club scene is not a must , but a lot of well know places in and outside London will be indeed seen.
Madonna will even jump on top of a double decker.
A wig is under consideration as well as " stopping the music" for few seconds.
In the end a lot of people will dance to Madonna in what looks to appear a sort of big street party, with acrobatic moves.. you know "music makes the people come together" .

Madonna and photographer/filmmaker David LaChapelle won't be teaming up on the video for her single 'Hung Up.' The pair confirmed to us yesterday that 'artistic differences' foiled the collaboration.
Just Wednesday, at an H&M/Interview party for his film 'Romeo and Juliet,' LaChapelle told us, 'It's going to be major. It's just the hottest Madonna song.'
Yesterday, his rep explained that LaChapelle 'wanted to approach the video in a documentary style, like he did in 'Rize' [his movie about ghetto dancers]. Madonna didn't see it the same way.''
Some claimed both talents turned diva. 'Madonna had to control every little thing,' said one tipster. 'She wanted to be shot so she looked very young.'
The 47-year-old goddess certainly looks youthful on the Steven Klein-shot cover of her new CD, 'Confessions From the Dance Floor.'
But her rep, Liz Rosenberg, insists Madonna bears no grudge against LaChapelle: 'She loves him and said she would work with him again in a minute.'

eh...dont really know if i would have gone for the documentary style treatment. It might have worked, but it doesnt seem very Madonnaish. It does sound like Madonna to want to control every little thing. She shouldnt have too much trouble finding a director though. She can always call Jonas Akerland or John Baptiste Mondino, tho I'd really love to see her go back to working with Mark Romanek(Rain, Bedtime Stories)
