McCartney Concert on BBC Radio Tonight, BBC Radio 2 broadcast a recorded concert from Paul McCartney from Abbey Road studios. He was alone onstage, playing mostly acoustic guitar and piano aside from 'loop' assistance from new album producer Nigel Godrich. He played several songs from 'Chaos and Creation', plus some Beatles tracks like 'Blackbird', 'Lady Madonna', and a 'pre-Beatles' song called 'In Spite of all the Danger'.
The most interesting thing tho was that for some songs he recorded loops of himself playing drums (and on the last new, 'improvised live onstage' song also bass, piano and two guitars) all over-layed live onstage using a sampler. He and Godrich also used a tape loop (done on an original ancient 4-track recorder a la 'Tomorrow never Knows) to create a 'piano drone' to back Paul on 'How Kind of You' (I think it was). He also did a cool 'avante-garde' rendition of 'Band on the Run'. This should be available to hear from the BBC Radio 2 website with a bit of tracking down. Well worth hearing for Macca fans - something a bit 'different'.There's also an intersting interview with Paul at the beginning where he describes the early song-writing he and John Lennon used together. I wish he would implement that and his incredible songwriting together. Maybe next Cd.  Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

Someone actually recorded both shows and the quality isnt that bad at all.. sounds like its a digital rip.. very clear and nice.
Here is the tracklisting for the first bbc one.. Fine line - tracked by nigel.. he played one instrument.. then ran to another.. looped it so it sounded like a band.. amazing. Lady Madonna - Mellow Piano version.. incredible.
