Chick groups dont last very long anyway. TLC was the longest running female group with its original members. "But what of black women? . . . I most sincerely doubt if any other race of women could have brought its fineness up through so devilish a fire." -- W.E.B. Du Bois --

Most of the time it's chick issues. Women have a hard time getting along with each other, too competitive and envious of one another, so usually that ends up fucking off the group...and a lot of the time it's over some dick. Yeah, some leave due to motherhood but most of these girl groups break up over jealousy. Women will tell you themselves that females don't get along well. "But what of black women? . . . You've brought up a good point Sos. I think the name of the game instead of focusing on hormones we should be focusing on EGO.

Good point, but in comparison to how many female groups there are to male groups, female groups last shorter than male groups. Male groups break up and get back together many times, most female groups break up and that's it. "But what of black women? . . . I think they had a hit from the "Bring It On" soundtrack a few years ago (the song got a lot of play here for a while anyway). Before I heard that, I thought they broke up.

They can't seem to get thier albums released.
I have a few 12" singles from their two shelved albums. The first shelved album was the "Black Out" in like 2001 or 2002. It had the single Can't Get It Back. Sony/Trackmaster put that album on indefinate hold. Plus Lisa had just died and they were going through some things-- including the Foxy/Nateena battle over Krupt. Then Missy helped produce "Torch," which had the singles: Ugly, I'm Good and an underground single Ganksta, which was a take off on 50 Cent's Wanksta. Elektra shelved album that in 2003.

Acts like that aren't built to last. Sometimes I wonder how they get signed in the first place.

The Dixie Chicks are still together. They've been together since 1993. I guess if you're in a girl group and you want to have band longevity, you can't sing pop or R&B.

Didn't they lose a member and just became a trio right when they first started out? "But what of black women? . . . I used to keep 808 on repeat back in the day.
I remember some of the young kiddies didn't know what the 'figure eight' sexual reference was all about stupid babies.
