I/m not really an INXS fan and I haven't watched the show but I feel like this really disrespects Michael Hutchence. They're basically trying to resuscitate their careers on the wings of his death. If they had just privately looked for a new singer that's one thing, but making a whole contest of it....it just makes them look like a bunch of publicity whores. Same thing with the whole TLC reality show.

Hutchence is long gone. They toured with another singer and had no luck. This show was a nothing-to-lose situation. I think it was a smart move. Would anyone give a rat's ass about INXS otherwise?

exactly.

Now if Van Halen Wants to continue, is Marty available??

New Blood headbang
Its nice to see that bands are BANDS, not just lead singers.

Here is part of the blurb from Billboard:

"J.D. has a slightly dangerous edge and will bring a sense of spontaneity to our live show," Farriss says in a statement released today. "In addition, he has both the star quality we were looking for and is an inspired lyricist. I think he'll grow with us on all levels."

The single "Pretty Vegas," recorded before the final show's taping, will be made available to U.S. radio outlets today via the band's new label, Sony BMG's Epic Records. It will be sold exclusively through Apple's iTunes music store for two weeks beginning Oct. 4.

The band plans to hit the studio immediately with producer Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) to record "Switch." Its first new studio album since 1997 will be released Nov. 29. Ahead of a world tour that opens in January, the band will appear Friday on CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and on Oct. 17 will perform at Los Angeles' new Virgin Megastore (Hollywood and Highland).

hate is disagree with you Supa but i LOVED this show. i thought the talent far outweighed any of the Idol shows tenfold!!!! but its all a matter of opinion...

i still love Marty but i am soooo proud of a Martimer for winning it!! rock on Jason Dean!!!!! congrats to him...most definatly best suited for the band and without a doubt the best INXS song perfomance the whole summer...his rendition of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" was fantastic too...not the stones mind you but still great.

He's their only hope, Obi-Wan. Besides, most frontpeople have LSD (Lead Singer's Disease). They have to have a tremendous ego to be compelling at what they do.

JD is so damn sexy I could cry. I saw INXS in him as soon as he did Hand in My Pocket. I feel like I am cheating on my man just looking at him. He may not have the best voice in the comp but that is not "what you need" to front that band. you need those eyes and lips to make you feel the "devil inside". All of you Marty lovers shouldn't cry "bitter tears" because I thought he was fabulous, he didn't need the band. Ty was his own band, he needs to rule a band, not join one. Lemme get get back to sexy ass...I wanna cry, cause you "Mystify Me and "I Need You Tonight"...Now honestly, can you imagine damn Jordis or even Marty singing that to you? They don't have "The Gift" like our sexy "New Sensation".

By the by, Reality TV's Don King Mark Burnett is in talks with another band for a new show next season. Can't imagine who it could be. INXS had the perfect demographics, a little older base and people who missed their music. They didn't go away because they lost their mojo. That band had their original line-up for 20 years. They would have kept on going if MH hadn't left us. sigh...I'm so happy...so damn satisfied.

She was the reason I was watching the show towards the end. When she left my interest with Inxs' future (unless it is Bside or Remix with Hutch) left the stage with her.

I'll buy her solo record if she ever does make one.

She was clearly the most talented of the vocalists on the show and surely should have lasted longer than Suzie. It made me sick that Suzie was the last woman standing. Just goes to show you, looks are more important these days than talent.

As for JD winning..I will miss the joy of hearing a new Inxs song with a vocalist I like. (Michael Hutchence) but at least it is one less CD I have to buy this fall. Count me out as far as JD and Inxs go.

I hated JD from the beginning with his sunglasses and tilted hats and I liked MiG. But as things went on Broadway MiG really became very plastic and choreographed and JD seemed the right choice. JD is also the only performer who seemed to understand that he was auditioning for INXS. When they wrote their own songs or picked a song to do JD was the only one to pick songs that sounded like INXS songs. Pretty Vegas sounds like vintage INXS while Trees, as catchy as it is, just isn't INXS.

I liked Jordis' voice over all of the other girls (and guys) but her final rendition of Need You Tonight is still haunting me it was so bad. I can't even here the words Need You Tonight without hearing her voice crackle. INXS had no choice.

Lastly...American Idol is better???? Standing on a stage singing a song vs. rehearsing a song with a band, reworking the song even, interacting with the band on stage, playing an instrument, writing your own songs...no comparison. These performers on Rockstar were musicians, not just vocalists. It was great to hear people do these classic songs and bring their own style to them. I'd watch a show like that religiously. Jordis' take on Imagine was incredible.

Better yet, unkown artists redoing Prince songs. Yea, that'll happen.

Yeah, JD had a funky little attitude in the beginning but his housemates slapped him around a bit and he realized that even if he was perfect the band wasn't going to pick someone they couldn't stand.

Poor Jordis got KO'd when she tried to pull Steven Tyler out of her ass from the floor. I'm still cringing from that Dream On debaucle.

Don't recall who said AmIdol was better but they were smoking something. AmIdol doesn't even do a Rock category. Bo Bice throwing some grits on stuff was the closest you could get. A singing comp where they sing only GOOD songs? Can't get awesomer...unless they are singing all Prince songs and you know only he can do most of them justice...although I can't beleive how much I like Barenaked Ladies or Cake or whoever it is doing When Doves Cry.

Yeah, Suzy wasn't very special to me but more versatile than Jordis. J mostly did slow stuff or scream stuff. She never did funky stuff. INXS is funky.

As for JD winning, my face is pressed to window of the wrecka stow waiting for the new INXS CD. Don't forget, the band is made up of more than one person.

Just my 2 cents, but I have to disagree. I think Suzie was actually the best one on there, not just of the women, but the men as well. She was the only one who really pulled off the INXS songs naturally, especially "Bitter Tears". No-one topped that performance, though Ty's "Kick" was up there. I won't go on about it, but I had to stick up for her here.

JD winning, well... INXS at least reveal their intentions with this choice. It wasn't to have the best singer, the best performer, or the most talented. They weren't there to take any chances or do anything really creative. It was all just to get someone who could make the little girls scream. Oh well, I feel like a sucker because I realize that for a second there I actually began to believe that something interesting could actually come out this whole TV thing. Whoops! It sucks sometimes to have your initial suspicions confirmed.

We may disagree about Suzie VS Jordis but I agree Suzie would have been a better choice than JD. I agree that it is really disapointing that Inxs didn't want to take any chances - they just wanted a young wanna be Hutch who would make the girls go crazy. However, we'll see if this crappy choice translates to record sales. It will be quite ironic if Jordis or Suzie or Marty or anyone else on that show gets a solo deal and the CDs sell more than Inxs' new cd. I for one will not be buying any of Inxs' material without Hutch on it. Nor will I go support this crappy new tour with JD. Sorry

It is alright..It is catchy and a nice song - I totally give ya that.

However, I think a lot of Inxs' back catalog is a lot more catchy. Plus, I just think Hutch is one of the best vocalists ever (imo) and so JD will have like the impossible task of living up to him. Good luck with that razz

Catchy song though. I like it. I downloaded it. Now just waiting to see if the album is going to deliver and be awesome or suck. I'll check out the tour no matter what though.
