Z Cult Favorite - "Outcast"/Eddie & Ernie/The Animals My father's soul duo Eddie and Ernie (my dad was Eddie) who's fans consist of David Bowie and Lou Reed, had a song called "Outcast". The song was written by my father and was released in 1965 on Capitol Records. The song is included on Eddie and Ernie's compilation from 2002 on Ace Records. Anyway, my dad's song "Outcast" was also covered by The Animals. The band had Eric Burdon, Alan Price and Chas Chandler. It's on their album "Animalism" from 1966. It was their last album with the original members. Later that year, Chas discovered a certain guitarist named Hendrix. Just sharing some info with you all. Very cool! I love The Animals. Great to see your dad's song covered by them.
Did they give him songwriting credit though? "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Did they give him songwriting credit though? Of course they did! Look on the "Animalism" album, on the record and the cover, his name is on there, big as day. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I don't have that album though, so I can't look for it. I have only Winds of Change, The Twain Shall Meet, and a best-of compilation. At times, it is. My dad's group were big in Europe, especially England. So, I'm not surprised about a British band covering one of his songs. Like TA posted, I like the Hendrix connection. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Wow BG. That is cool! Now I have to google this as well. I think the group sounds vaguely familiar. Their peak was before my time so I will have to look it up on the internet.
(Sorry I couldn't find your thread at first) So BG in what way did your dad influenced you in pursuing a musical career? (picture me holding the microphone during our interview... I was an intern reporter for a tv station in my former life. That is why I am so inquisitive. I can't help it. ) "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

I started playing around on the drums when I was 8. My mother and my father both are/were musical. My dad played guitar and bass. My mother plays piano, clarinet and violin. So, I grew up with music very much in the house. I'll go to the studios with my dad when I was little, so I saw the recording process young. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Thanx! It's ironic that u should mention that song. That song was also covered by another rock band from the early 70's. 1974 I believe. Anyway, I used to have the album when I was little, but I don't know what happened to it. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the band who covered "Falling Tears (Indian Drums). Sounds like a Hendrix title, doesn't it? I have searched high and low for that album in vintage records store, cuz when I see it, I'll know it. But, I nor my mother can't remember the name of the band. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
