ALANIS looked great singing Seal's 'Crazy'

The DESTINY's CHILD tribute was a little much...Michelle Williams could not keep her shit together (maybe she's realizing her career is almost over..poor girl)...PATTI LaBELLE was amazing as usual but Babyface and Usher were too much.....It amazes me how much the industry hypes them as groundbreakers in the modern music world...they aiight but they're just too young to recieve such high accoalades that groups like Supremes, Shirelles, Ronettes..even En Vouge never got.

All in all...a fun fast paced awards show and James Denton looked HOOOOOT!

She was a highlight. Mariah was good too...typical...half live, half lip-syncd, over the top princess antics and plenty of legs!

Really good show, obviously anything is an improvement over the VMA's but all in all the WMA's had some really good performances. AMERIE ...Hot as usual, sorry if U dont dig her, but she has got it, and she just goes about her business and doesnt sell out for quick success, very much like MYA. Destinys Child, I love you girls but really u have to stop oversinging, just because u can scream it doesnt show you are a "Singer". Mariah Looked hot, but I hate that song to death, Love her but so far i am not feeling any of the singles in the USA. Popular doesnt equal quality. Jovi was Jovi, sorry but I dig them too, always have always will. Alanis was cool too.

I must also say that the FASHION ROCKS show was Really good too, I mean performances from

DURAN
BOWIE
BILLY IDOL (though Lisa marie presley is AWFUL)
GWEN (not doing that annoying HOLLABACK)
SHAKIRA
DESTINY

all in all a very strong show

Well, at least some of the performances were "half live" compared to the train wreck that wast he VMAs.

But can someone explain why the hell they even bother with the half live/half synched sh*t?

I saw Mariah twice on her last tour and the girl can bring it for real, including hitting her "whistle register" live. So why does she just do half the song with real vocals??? Does anyone actually think that Tater Tot and the other singers are actually singing when we can clearly hear it's overdubs of her own voice?

And Destiny's Child???? please..... only Beyonce was doing a few lines live over an obvious background track. Why do they pull this bs???? Why can't anyone play a song live??? It's really insulting to the audience.

Miss Patti did it live, and her voice was actually not very good for her (meaning she seemed to have a cold), but she still blew everyone else away.

I don't get why Destiny Child and Usher get so much hype..... they really are pretty mediocre in terms of musical talent.

Mariah can totally bring it, live, with no tracks and no tapes etc. She's probably one of the few "stars" out there today who actually can really sing (maybe Christina Aguilera).

Which is why I don't get why she bothers with the toher stuff. That performance benefit/telehton show was aweosme. She did the same thing at that frist concert for 9/11 in NYC, the very "low budget one". I think she did Hero, totally live. She actually used her background singers to sing gospel harmony. It was also her 1st public appearance after he "breakdown" so it was really emotional for her and her fans. I wish Mariah would just perform like she did at these shows and focus on her musicanship rather than having to have the eaxct same hip-hop beats or samples live. You can still do hip hop live as LLCoolJ and Coolio proved long ago.

2. The world is more of a global market. What's popular here is now popular around the WORLD. US Labels market across the globe. Internet means we all fidn otu about stuff immediately. Who knows how aggressively acts were marketed globally back then?

But just last week TLC was the biggest selling female group!

BTW, are they done for good? They're premiering a new single on their reality show but is that leading to a new album?
