If anyone could sell 3.8 million copies in six weeks and then lose steam, power to them.

i'm not a huge fan, but he is a talented rapper, nonetheless.
I've only heard a few of the songs so far on the new album, sound pretty good.

i think you misunderstand me..if you throw huge money at anything it will sell...Vanilla Coke anyone?

however, Eminem's albums have sold less and less with each sale...Hopefully by next album he will be Britney Spears like out of here...

Dont get me wrong...I have nothing against him, per se...I just think that our society could be spendings its media attention on much more positive things...or at least worthy issues..like the race issues that have been ignored for soo many years...People like Eminem just like to capitolize on negativity and stupidity..Not a healthy thing...

Yes and no. You're right, we could be spending our time on more positive things--but compared to what kids are left listening to nowadays: Britney, N'Sync, BBB, etc, I would hope they would choose MM over these fake substitutes.
For all his negativity, he is a real rapper with his own ideas, not promotional hogwash programmed into him by his manager and record company.

I think he's in many ways a breath of fresh air to kids looking for something real on bland radio.

Now that said, i don't dig his "eat cock, suck pussy" that he raps about on her current album, but again, he's the best thing going on radio(IMO) for kids right now, and I guess they've casted their vote.

Don't get me wrong, mrchristian, I truly dig what u're saying, he is a breath of fresh air in a catagory that all sounds the same, and he has a great knack 4 writing...but 2 suggest that album sales equal what's best 4 kids (as far as them "casting their votes") is ridiculous. (imo!)

Kids will buy whatever they deem will piss their parents off. Slap a "parental advisory" label on anything, and it's going thru the roof! Make a stink on how this music is the devil's work...again, thru the roof! That doesn't make it the best thing 4 them. Most likely, it's far 2 impressionable.

Again, don't get me wrong...I am 4 music as an art, I dig controversy...but I won't put blinders on and accept everything is kid safe...

I did "burn" a copy of this disc 4 myself...but even in my very liberal house, it's almost never played in front of the kids. (By almost, I mean the radio version is allowed without reservation.)

I do, however, agree with ur stance regarding Britney & N*Sync...hell, I'd rather listen 2 Sesame Street On Ice... at least they flaunt their lip syncing!

Exactly. And I didn't nod off listening to his track, which is pretty remarkable for me considering it's top 40 material, and I'd normally list watching paint dry as a more exciting activity.

Nelly Simmers on Charts
Wed Jul 10, 9:15 PM ET
By David Jenison

What does Nelly have in common with the nation's weather? Both are hot, hot, hot.

For the second straight week, Nelly's Nellyville held the top position on the album charts as his hit single "Hot in Here" continued ruling the FM airwaves. Nelly, the man who last week ended Eminem ( news - web sites)'s five-week chart reign, closed out the week ended Sunday by selling another 447,000 copies, according to SoundScan numbers.

That gives Nelly 1.15 million copies sold in just two weeks, putting the St. Louis rapper just behind Eminem in the race for fastest-selling disc of 2002.

Seven weeks out, The Eminem Show continued selling strong, moving 263,000 copies to hold off two strong debuts.

The first of the new bows came from Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti, who sold 193,000 copies of Irv Gotti Presents...The Inc. to land at number three spot. The album features tracks by Murder Inc. artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti.

The East Coast rappers were followed by East Coast rockers Aerosmith ( news - web sites), whose compilation O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits took number four with 137,000 copies. The group's latest best-of features 30 songs, including 18 Top 40 singles.

The rest of the Top 10 were all holdovers: Avril Lavigne's Let Go at five, Ashanti's self-titled debut at six, Korn's Untouchables at seven, N.O.R.E.'s God's Favorite at eight, Pink's M!ssundaztood at nine and Totally Hits 2002 hanging in at 10.

The soundtrack to (Lil') Bow Wow's NBA-themed flick Like Mike, debuted at 18. The film, which opened over the holiday weekend, came in fifth at the box office.

Two high-flying bands of the '90s--Oasis and Green Day--sputtered on the charts with their new albums. Brit-rockers Oasis opened at 23 with Heathen Chemistry, and pop-punk crossover heroes Green Day opened close behind at 27 with Shenanigans.

Chicago, who've been around long enough to match Aerosmith in Social Security ( news - web sites) credits, fared less well with their hits collection, The Very Best of Chicago: Only the Beginning. The two-disc album, featuring 39 hit singles, debuted at 38.

Two other compilations, So So Def Presents Definition of a Remix and Nas' From Illmatic to Stillmatic, debuted deep down on the charts at 117 and 123, respectively.

Meanwhile, on the singles chart, Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation" remained number one for a second straight week.

Here's a rundown of the Top 10 albums for the week ended July 7, according to SoundScan:

1. Nellyville, Nelly
2. The Eminem Show, Eminem
3. Irv Gotti Presents...The Inc., various
4. O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits, Aerosmith

Aerosmith, one band who have so completely lost the plot it makes you want to cry.

5. Let Go, Avril Lavigne
6. Ashanti, Ashanti
7. Untouchables, Korn
8. God's Favorite, N.O.R.E.
9. M!ssundaztood, Pink
10. Totally Hits 2002, various

I am very close to hating rap music, but this guy has a lot of energy in his music. He will be one in a million and possibly sell for a few years.

The music industry is in the same situation it was in around 1982 when Disco almost destroyed music. We need a savior.

Rapper Nelly, Rockers Chili Peppers Top Pop Charts
Wed Jul 17, 4:51 PM ET
By Sue Zeidler

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hip-hop star Nelly topped the pop album charts for a third consecutive week, while rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers enjoyed their highest ranking for an album in the group's 20 year history at No. 2, according to sales data reported on Wednesday.

The rap genre continued to reign supreme as Nelly's "Nellyland" held the top slot since the week ended June 30, when it toppled a five-week rule by rapper Eminem. Nelly's album sold 340,029 units in the latest week ended July 14, bringing the tally to about 1.5 million units, SoundScan said.

The Chili Peppers' new and eighth album, "By the Way," sold 281,948 units for the week ended July 14, knocking Eminem's "The Eminem Show," from the No. 2 position, where it had held steady for the previous two weeks.

The No. 2 ranking is the highest position ever attained by the Los Angeles-based rock group, which has been together since the early 1980s, having weathered the death of one member and the long absence of another, both linked to heroin.

"By the Way," released on July 9 by Warner Bros. Records, surpassed by way of ranking the Chili Peppers' 1999 hit comeback album "Californication," which peaked at only No. 3 but went on to sell an estimated 13 million units worldwide.

The band's disappointing "One Hot Minute" 1995 album peaked at No. 4, while the Chili Peppers' 1991 breakthrough 1991 release "BloodSugarSexMagik," peaked at No. 3.

One of the first acts in the 1980s to merge rap and funk with hard rock, the band's guitarist John Frusciante left in the early 1990s in what became a five-year exile to battle a heroin addiction. The Chili Peppers had already lost one guitarist, Hillel Slovak, who died in 1988 from a heroin overdose.

With the return of Frusciante on "Californication," the band turned more pop-oriented and critics have called "By The Way" the mellowest of the group's albums.

Meanwhile, Eminem's album, the third major-label LP from the foul-mouthed rapper (a.k.a. Marshall Bruce Mathers III), sold 231,000 copies in the week ended July 14, bringing its tally to about 4.1 million copies.

Nelly's No. 1 ranking is not the first for the hip-hop star, whose 2000 debut, "Country Grammar," opened at No. 3 with sales of 252,000 copies but ultimately spent five weeks at No. 1.

Teen pop newcomer Avril Lavigne's debut album "Let Go," moved up to No. 4 from No. 5, while the Counting Crows' new release "Hard Candy," ranked No. 5, sales data show.

"Hard Candy," the band's fourth studio release, started better than 1999's "This Desert Life," which opened and peaked at No. 8. But the band's first two studio albums both peaked at No. 1, according to sales data.

Rounding out the top 10 were hip-hop group Styles' album, "Gangster & A Gentleman" at No. 6 and "Irv Gotti Presents...The Inc.," a collection of hard-core and East Coast rap from various artists at No. 7 spot.

Two self-titled albums, one by pop singer Josh Groban and one by rookie R&B singer Ashanti, ranked No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, while veteran rockers Aerosmith's "Ultimate Greatest Hits," scored at No. 10.

Warners is a unit of AOL Time Warner Inc.

"This looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cuz we need a little con-tro-ver-sy
Cuz it feels so empty without me"

The video is truly quite funny.

Em is dressed up in "Robin" gear from Batman & Robin outfits, xcept with a big "E" on his chest. They (Em and Dre) r saving children from getting their hands on his disc, because of the Parental Advisory sticker on it!

2 funny!
