George Michael's "Fastlove"

This song is the jam. For a white British dude, he can really pull off making good r&b songs. I think this song shows just how much he's underrated in the states. Musically, it's luscious and funky, and his voice is at it's best. Call me insane, but I would honestly put him along the lines of Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney as far as great pop music.

I was hoping with the release of Patience there would be similar songs in the vein of Fastlove, but with the exception of the criminally ignored "Amazing" and maybe the club staple "Flawless", I was disappointed.

Any thoughts on this song?

yeah...Patience was missing that one "hit" to make it a great classic album..

Fastlove, Freedom (both of them), I Want Your Sex....

George is great at writing dance/pop tracks...he shouldnt take himself so serious though because his acoustic numbers arent as memorable....but i do love his slow/torch love songs.

Yea that sample's hot. I like how it's kinda discreet and not overtly obvious

Possibly my favorite George Michael tune! That song is so good, and it never gets old! Frakin' great dance track, through and through. I seriously wish George would do an entire album in this vein. When I first heard "Amazing", I thought that was what we were getting, but alas no luck.

George is probably the only artist who can get away with saying shit and fuck in his songs and not having the song edited on the radio or video, even at breakfast time.

FASTLOVE just happens to be the inspiration for a song i wrote {as yet unreleased} called "sleeping with you".perhaps someday i just might find the nerve to unleash it.

Well it's true. It might not be completely clear (although "bullshit" easily is in Fastlove), but I also got the "one fuck fantasy" line the very first time I saw the Freeek! video on TV.

Cool song, I prefer his a bit similar sounding 'Too Funky' though.
He really should do a more up-tempo album with songs like this, and that was the plan for 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol II', but we're still waiting. zzz

His birth name is
Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (Source = Imdb)

He is in my top five recording artists list for sure..behind Michael Jackson and tied or above Prince.

"Patince" was a disapointment compared to "Older" and to "Listen Without Prejudice Volume 1."

Now maybe it was a disapointment however...
It is awesome that in the future he plans to release his music for free with the option to donate to charities that he supports! biggrin

Now that is awesome... biggrin
