bored Can't he just write a check? It's much quicker and doesn't require third party action.

A benefit single won't raise the funds quick enough. This is an emergency!

If MJ really has to do a song Hurricane Katrina, why don't he just do it by himself? Why must he have everybody in the music biz involved with his project? Can MJ just get out of 1985 for a hot second or is that asking for too much? MJ is just too much for me.

Exactly. He has beaten that "collaborating with different artists" dead horse to death for years. He needs to move on and do something by himself for a change.

He might as well. They said he hopes to have it recorded within the next two weeks. By then it will be almost 4 weeks after Katrina hit. And several more weeks until it's availble for purchase. Those people need funds NOW not a What More Can I Give sequel. How much money did that song make for 911?

See I could deal with that. People who are in his league as far as musicianship goes but knowing his stupid ass, he'll get Usher and Kanye and any other sorry ass trick from the TRL circuit to be a part of the song. That just makes me mad right there. Homeboy needs to grow the fuck up and maybe he has but I doubt it. We'll see.

This is why the continuing Prince vs. MJ debates bother me so much.
Back in the day it was fun, but clearly these two 47 year old black men have taken very different paths in life.
Prince writes a song in one night, puts it on his website and let's the NPGMC members know it's available and the proceeds will go to hurricane relief. The members then spread the word about the song. No big fanfare, no press releases, no, "Hey everybody, look at me, look at what a good person I am". True, it's not gonna raise huge amounts of money, but I'm bettin' Prince will add a hefty donation of his own money to whatever is raised. MJ, on the other hand, well, it's the same old story. Phony as a three dollar bill.

I dont think MJ has the ability to record a song within 2 weeks
his lazyass will take maybe 6months b4 he releases a song

Actually Prince song has got some publicity

Prince is weighing in on the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

The rock star released a new single on his Web site over the weekend.

It's called "S-S-T," which was inspired by the tragedy and will benefit relief efforts. It's available for a 99-cent download at w-w-w-dot-n-p-g-music-club-dot-com.

Prince wrote and recorded the song in one long late-night session after watching T-V coverage of the hurricane's aftermath.

"S-S-T." refers to Sade's (SHAH'-dayz) "Sweetest Taboo," a song looped on the N-P-G Music Club site after the hurricane hit. The site is also offering Mavis Staples' version of the Prince-written gospel tune "U Will Be Moved" to benefit disaster relief

Mikes song will be better.

And of course, it'll be a good time for Mike to show his patriotic duty and get some cred back neutral

I like mikes charity songs. He can write the prettiest melody and backing vox. And thats whats its all about for me. Not the lyrics. Like "what more can i give", and even "heal the world". I play that on piano sometimes. Its a very sweet tune.

when did raymone bain fall back into the jackson publicity camp? wasn't it widely...and accurately...reported that she had been fired towards the end of the trial? i vividly remember the public announcement with claims that they have "regretfully" parted company shortly after mesereau made the statements regarding his disappointment with public comments (specifically by jesse jackson and raymone bain). am i completely dreaming all this up?

anyway...mike should just give some money and THEN record a song. i'm so over all these opportunistic bitches jumping on any cause in order to gather more public esteem. vultures and cannibals, i swear!

why doesn't he just cut off some of his hair and sell it on ebay in a 3 day auction. All proceeds go to Red Cross. Its quick, its easy, doesn't require any help from anyone & its painless. Freaks will bid up a storm.
