Any of you all ever heard of Raul Midon??? I just got a free dvd featuring two of his songs, " State of Mind," and "Sunshine." The guy is AMAZING!!!!!
He is a BLIND jazz-type artist who accompanies himself on guitar. His voice reminds me a lot of Stevie Wonder...

When I used to live in South Beach I used to go see him at small clubs like Jazzid and that sister cafe to the News Cafe that's on Lincoln Road, you know in the upstairs part (CHRIST, it's been so long since I've been home that I'm forgetting all of my old haunts !!!) Anyway, he IS an incredible talent and also invokes some feeling of George Benson and Donnie Hathaway into his music...I'm sooo happy to hear that he has a deal and is doing well. My ex-boyfriend (a session player and producer) was a colleague of his and we used to attend his shows whenever we could....he always packed a house...and I remember how sweet he was and how he was always lovingly attended to by his dad and adoring wife (watch out Sharon Osbourne, lol!) I rembember back in the day to make ends meet, his wife told me he had to take gigs as a sideman with Shakira (this was before she became a pop superstar and we were used to seeing her hang around Miami like a local)...having been around people in the music industry so long, I'm always the first one to applaud when somebody can just get a GIG, let alone a solo career, but knowing that Raul Midon is "making it"...just really makes my heart smile.....

I saw him on the Tonight Show a few weeks back ---he floored the crowd with his singing and guitar playing!!
