Funky People & House People Question....
Peace Pipe by B.T. Express Is it a funk groove???? Or a house groove???? I use to hear it in a house mix & people consider it house music.... I say its a funk jam..... 
A classic funk jam!! 
I get arguments big time about this... 
Nothing against house music, but I like it on the One...
House music is like giving a sweet thang the same stroke over & over... That could be boring.... Funk goes in & out & all about!!!! 
It can do airthang.... Okay got off the subject...
Your views..... Is Peace Pipe a house groove???... 
Or a funk thang????

I say it's Funk  although that bass leans toward a house groove and the sax play don't help my cause... but yeah Funk!

I don't think I've heard "Peace Pipe" but I know BT Express' heyday was long before the house era. I've always considered house to be a reincarnation of disco and disco was definately funky. I don't know, it gets confusing. Which came first, the chicken or the egg.
Funkpill, I definately agree with you about house being repetitive which can tend to be boring at times. That's house music's only flaw with me. Disco was more structured and was more like a song rather than a repetitive funky beat such as house. Disco was kind of like speeded up funk. Andy is a four letter word. | |
