Bowie lookin' tore up at Fashion Rocks

What's with the black eye and the bandaged hand?

I guess Iman throws a mean right hook?

...oops, just checked BowieNet...apparently he had the bandage and black eye for his opening number, then it all disappeared for his duet with Arcade Fire later in the show. What a freak. love

i keep hearing buzzings that it's going to air tonight on CBS...though i'm sure a certain Bowie fan site will have a video file of it that we can download this weekend...just a guess. biggrin

As for the songs, Bowie started by doing "Life on Mars?" by himself, with the black eye and the bandaged hand...then he came out later, sans shiner and bandage, in a different outfit, with the Arcade Fire, to do "Five Years" and "Wake Up". From the reviews I've read, it was amazing.

i'm wondering if the suit and bruises were an homage to his 'lodger' album cover...? hmmm

(note the bandaged hand)

I've always thought David Bowie was incredibly sexy, but I have to say, to some degree I'm not feeling the same way these days. sad

I recently saw a picture of him in a magazine and was sad to see he'd had his teeth fixed (maybe he did that awhile ago and I've just not been paying attention?) Anyway, those new huge, white, perfectly straight Chiclet teeth don't go with his face/aura/vibe/image/whatever, imo. I prefered him with his old jacked up scraggleteeth..they suited him.

Did you hate the tan in the 80's too?

??

I don't know what that means. shrug

And BTW, I don't "hate" his new teeth, I just personally don't think they go with his face and I liked his old teeth better. JMO biggrin

He really changed his look a lot in the 80's too. Got rid of the cool clothes, bleached his hair blonde, got a tan. He looked all yuppie and shit.

Oh, yeah, he did. nod

I definitely remember the bleached hair - what was that one video from the 80s, gosh I can't remember which one at the moment, but he had on a yellow suit and I swear his hair was about as yellow-blonde as his suit!lol

Even my mom, who is more the C/W type (like my dad) used to comment on David Bowie back in the 80s, about how "good looking" and nicely dressed she thought he was! We still joke around about that to this day. My mom was never really into music much so I don't think she's even aware of what DB looked like back in his more outrageous, glammed up days - she'd probably be shocked! lol

That's gotta be it! And I thought it was a little self-irony on his part, because it was the first performance since he was ill last year.
