LINA - THE INNER BEAUTY MOVEMENT (NEO SOUL)

Anybody heard of this sista? She dropped a CD a while back (Stranger on Earth)and it did some minor damage, but THIS effort the just dropped is damn good. Neo Soul lovers will like this CD a lot. Scoop her up. She's got a Badu vibe and ragtime jazzy feel.

Or try Chocolate Butterfly or Xavier. This is real soul - it's not trying to be "neo". I did like Stranger On Earth, but it was kind of a copy of Badu (as you said yourself). Who is in turn kind of a copy of Billie Holiday. Like "hoobastank", Lina seemed to be a derivative of a derivative. God - we all need that...

nod I heard her while back on my Launchcast player. She has a mediocre voice but well written song.

No. He just has the energy of the rock n roll of that era. Why do you HATE Jon Spencer? Can't you appreciate anything other than Neo-Soul. Soul music with no soul at all? Not real, oragnic soul, not music that someone has put their heart and soul into - but music that is greared up for radio sales?

You need to go here: www.youhavebadtasteinmusic.com it's really funny.

Yeah, her production this time around is a lot better than her debut.

Go check the Marvin Gaye thread. Looks like my predictions were right. 3 out of 4 aint bad (I broke #4 and checked back, but #3 was EASY!)
