Helter Skelter scares the heck out of me too, because Paul or Lennon screams out, "I have blisters all over my hands". That song also inspired Paul Manson, and that's why it so mythical to me. [Edited 9/9/05 14:27pm] Charles Manson? Check this song out at:

andyman91 said: The Beatles were not the "grooviest" band, but they nailed it on that song (particularly the bass, as mentioned, but the guitar too) as well as on Come Together.
I think the Beatles were actually pretty funky: I'd add Drive My Car, Taxman, Got To Get You Into My life, I am the Walrus to the list of great Beatles grooves (and there's probably a few more I'm forgetting)

its just one of those things.. their production was amazing.. still to this day, most songs with equal concepts fall short.. they had great ideas.. that were simple but concepts complex.
Looking back, I dont believe a bands ever had such a streak that affected the world like they did.. even when things went wrong (lennon comments) things still became better than they were. Truely a magnicifacant story and history of excellent compelling music.

One of my favourite Beatles "rock" songs, along with...
Revolution (not Revolution 1), Helter Skelter, Taxman, Hey Bulldog (I prefer the 1999 remix). They all sort of sound "heavy".

[Edited 9/9/05 14:27pm] I thought he said I have blisters on my fingers It's John saying "I have blisters on my fingers" in reference to the fact that he played the drums on that track because Ringo had temporarily quit the band at that point, so he filled in for Ringo.

and to think, the first version I heard was on the Sgt Pepper's Bee Gees movie... the first time for many of those songs when I was little. I thought that it was brilliant songwriting on the part of those musical movie makers.... lol. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Also, as far as I know, the few songs that were recorded without Ringo when he temporarily quit the band during the sessions had PAUL on the drums, such as Back In the USSR

Actually Clubkid.. dont mean to correct you.. but it is infact Ringo.. I went back on the VH1 story tellers thing.. and Ring did infact confirm it was him saying it,
