Hank Williams appreciation thread hey,
I thought it was time we started a thread about Mr. Williams. To me this guy's music's equivalent of 'the rock of ages'. He was at the beginning of it all, he and the carter family started the whole thing. Every note that has been played since was influenced by Hank. All anyone has to do is play lost highway or you chaeting heart to know how great this guy was...all you have to do is listen to Jeff Buckley, the white stripes, john mayer, coldplay to hear what a major impact he had on music, and still has. The original roling stone, who deserves a statue as big as mount rushmore...I know I'm overdoing it a bit maybe, but there's no over-praising this guy. Anyone care to share his thoughts on Hank? grtz kev1n [Edited 9/8/05 13:16pm] It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

Honestly, Hank williams has as much of an influence on Rock and Roll as the Bluesmen of the same era, early Rock was a combination of Hank williams, and the Blues, just listen to "Move it on Over" and tell me that's not Rock and Roll. not to mention that his hard-living and early death is a prototype (along with Robert Johnson) to the rock and roll stereotype.

...Hank III sounds and looks so much like Hank I, it's scary... ...theres no denying Hank Williams' impact on music...songs like "Wild Side of Life" and "I Can't Help It (if I'm still in love with you)" are pure classics...He had a delivery like no other (well, maybe only matched by Patsy Cline)...if he sang a gospel standard, you'd feel uplifted, if he sang a cheatin' song, you felt heartbroken..if he sang a drinkin' song...you got drunk too ...he was an originator... You can't spell delivery without an "l" edit... [Edited 9/9/05 21:04pm]

My older brother used to drive me crazy playing a Hank Williams album over and over again. Now I get all misty when I hear him "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss
