New Project by David Sylvian : Nine Horses Hi,
on Oct. 11 the new project by David Sylvian, his brother Steve Jansen and Burnt Friedman will be released. The Group is called Nine Horses and the record is entitled "Snow borne sorrow". Ryuichi Sakamoto and Stina Nordenstam made some contributions too. I already read two good reviews of the record and I am really looking forward to this release. The music is described as being much more accessible as David´s last release Blemish which was discussed quite controversial among his fanbase. The Tracklisting is the following: 1. Wonderful World 2. Darkest Birds 3. The Banality Of Evil 4. Atom and Cell 5. A History Of Holes 6. Snow Borne Sorrow 7. The Day The Earth Stole Heaven 8. Serotonin 9. The Librarian Any fans here? He is in my top ten ~ especially when working with Ryuichi Sakamoto. Bananacologne is a huge fan as well. Seems like we've been waiting nearly two years for this release ~ thank you so much for the update. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

What are the details? Does he take the lead vocals on all the tracks?

Yes he does. He didn´t write all the tracks but he sings on all of them.

Stunning art work for this new one. Blemish was difficult although it contained moments of brilliance. It is a tough listen especially because he and Ingrid are so private and he was ambiguous about problems they were facing. It really isn't anyone elses concern, but the record was so intensly bitter, sad and personal that it was natural for fans to feel the pain along with them and wonder what was happening to what appeared to be an idyllic life together. theplejades ~ do you have a song by him called For The Love Of Life? It is stunningly sad and beautiful ~ a conversation about their failure and the children (even though it is from a soundtrack) and a challenge to keep the fight strong for their relationship. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

I like the artwork too. Yes I have heard a sample of "For the love of life". It is kind of ethereal sounding with background vocals that reminded me of Björks Vespertine-Album. It was quite short at 1.10 min. I think. The sample didn´t convince me enough to buy the soundtrack though.
I like 3 or 4 tracks from Blemish but found its sound quite cold and I am not sure if i really want to hear about the problems of Davids and Ingrids marriage through the whole record. For my taste it is too far removed from his classic works in the 80s.

Just discovered this site with sound samples of 4 of the tracks. Sounds interesting.
