How seriously do you take your music? Some people take it WAY too seriously. So name your favourite artist and state how much of a hard-core fan you are...

I dont take it seriously, and I cant stand people who do. I can play guitar and some keyboards but not like some people would beleive that though on here or in real life.
But the music I hear is still music. And despite manipulation to appear to teeniboppers, alot of my music does have nice melodys and catchy hooks. I ironically just joined a band. Havn't been in one for years. I did get kicked out for turning soft, but I changed my music tastes and I aint doing no greenday.nirvana shit.. And i write too. My new band appreciates my cheesy poppy tastes.I may come up with the hook or melody and they make it more rock or funky. We're a eccentric band. But dont really play much. We ain't that bothered. It's been all around me ever since I can remember.
All kinds, which is why i'm not confined to one artist or genre. I'm doomed and quite thrilled about it. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Music is the most important part of my life! I can't live without it. I love electro music by this I mean, old skool 80's hip hop like grandmaster flash and the furious five, whodini etc. I'm still living like it's 1985! Can't help it!
I also love funk and rock. Uh, I don't know if that answers your question.

I took it too seriously until I had to "go off" it for many years. Now, I take it less seriously, but seriously enough to enjoy it.

Lots of times music was the only thing that made life worth living...take it as seriously as you want but don't belittle or underestimate the power of music.

This thread remember a conversation I had with a fellow orger last nite:
Both my parents did radio (my dad still does)...so I grew in a radio station, where I adored 2 listen 2 Abba and vintage Kylie! I miss those days!

you know how people somethimes ask you that stupid question "if you had to choose one, would you rather be def or blind?" I'm always to only one who says I'd rather be blind. Music is what keeps me from going insane...Music is what keeps me alive...I take it serious the way I take breathing serious. You don't think about it consiously, but you never stop (listening) either. It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I take my music very seriously. When I was under a hurricane threat, I boxed up as much of it as I could just in case I had to make a run for it. Hell, I wasn't even studying my clothes, they could be replaced. Andy is a four letter word.

I don't take it serious because its entertainment.....I leave myself open to enjoy....the dumb stuff as well as the serious stuff.
PPl get too caught up.....I don't care who is playin' bass on a track or who is producin' whatever....if I like it...i like it... But I'll say I take it serious in that music is what relaxes me...calms me...etc....its important to me in that manner.

Music is an extremely large part of my life and I often shudder to think of my existence without it. It ranks right there with life's essentials for me, ie, air food, water, women, music Hmm...maybe too seriously...

Well given that it has ruined all my efforts at relationships and my obsession with it also got me kicked out of the army I'd say I take it pretty damn seriously.

I say to myself "to each his own" but when I hear someone listen to 0.5 Cent or Britney, I still get kind of mad and annoyed because there are so many people who apparentally don't appreciate music enough. I also have experienced enough puzzled looks when people realize that I actually BUY music, to know that I really take it serious.

The easiest way to explain it is Rob in the book, or film, High Fidelity.
Thats how serious! With maybe just a tad less attention paid to the current market.

Very serious! I didn't start buying music properly until I was about 16 - which is quite late really - but it's been with me from a very early age. I was always singing as a kid, my parents always played music, I was in a choir (forget I even mentioned that ) - it's always been a great love of my life. I just wish I learned to play an instrument.
I've got more self-control these days but - even only up until a few years ago - I used to buy a ridiculous amount of albums. And I'm a bit wary these days - only because I know if I like an artist, that's it; next I'll want everything they've ever recorded, the books, dvds, videos, whatever. I could have worse addictions, I s'pose. A good example: the other day, I had a few friends round the house and I had some music on before we went out. One of my mates asked me something and - even though I was listening to her - I was also listening to the music. It's hard to explain but just from my face alone she could tell I was really 'into' it. Almost like a trance. Anyway, the same friend said: "I don't think he listens to music in the same way we do". I took that as quite a compliment!
