That's so cool! I'm gonna pick the set up today from the reviews i've read they say disc 1 is excellent but disc 2 is kinda patchy. Still any new Pfunk is worth it.

I'm still diggin' CD1 haven't made it to CD2 yet.Trying to listen a few times and let it all sink in. Haven't read any reviews but it wouldn't matter. I think if you're a true P-funk fan you'll find things to dig. As Wildheart said "Any new Pfunk is worth it"
I hope it does good enough so George can release other Pfunk related thangs soon, not 10 years from now.
Also Best Buy has it for $14.99 for 2-cd set! Support the funk ya'll!
More thoughts on new CD to come...

We ready to set some more funk off with a pre-party out at the Greek. Ya gotta get over to the PFUNK YAHOO! group for details or check my website www.pfunkjazz.com.

Cool. I guess USA today gave it 3 1/2 stars...not that I care what critics say but at least it's good pr for P-funk.

I think it's to the point now where people are saying that it is good just because it is the P Funk all-stars.. Some of this ish is pretty damn awful, Why does George try to keep up with the mainstream and make his albums so Hip Hop friendly, when there are tons of Hip Hop acts that are trying to sound like him? For example the song Bowtie on OutKast's speaker box album features the P Funk horns on it and it recaptures the spirit of what P Funk was all about, much better than George does himself these days. If anybody else released some these tracks people would be ripping this shit apart and calling it trash.

I know music is subjective, but I hold them to a higher standard, they can and have done better than this.

I had the Prince/ George Clinton paradigm track for some time now, it is one of the few that are decent, that and Sexy Side Of You, and some ok sounding songs here and there.

This is the P-Funk of today. He's not trying to copy himself and play older music. I wouldn't say it's awful give it another listen. Lots of good tracks on there.

My favorite is the acostic jam with Joi now that's the shit!!! Track 4 is some straight up Sly Stonish sounding stuff. Viagra is a rock monster.

It's got something for everyone. Bounce to This is monsterious.

Ya know some could make the same argument about Prince's newer music. The point is P-funk is never gonna be as good as "classic" stuff. I think we all know that. I'm just glad there is "new" material and I celebrate the whole P-funk ethic. Sure a lot of P-funk fans are gonna trash the cds and they have every right to but I'll take new P-funk over the majority of new stuff I hear today.
I too hold P-funk to high standards but it is what it is. I've liked 'em since the 70's and I aint gonna stop now. They still move me and make me smile and I can't say that about a lot of current music.

This feels more like a FUNKADELIC record and folks don't vibe hard off the bat unless they're hardcore Maggots. Some of us have heard the tunes before (Live and on side projects) and are appreciative of the studio version. It's prolly not great, but it is as good as it could be...for now. I always get a better appreciation after the live dates.

I agree withca. U won't find a bigger Parliament/Funkadelic fan than me. I have ALL of their shit, seen them countless times, etc. But, George doesn't need to be getting in bed with hip hop. Hip hop has already gotten in bed with PFunk. And that's how it should be. But they don't want to get turned out by what Outkast is doing. Hell, they're paying tribute to them.

Well you know George never truly wants to be considered an oldie but goodie act so he never quite follows the rules for an oldschool act. Rap ain't going nowhere and it's here to stay. They helped save the funk and alot of old school acts so he embraces it.

He was the first act to take the Sugar Hill Gang out on the road during Rapper's Delight when all the other acts at the time was scared of rap. They were featured on Funkadelic's Uncle Jam Tour in 1979.

Do you have insight into the P-funk camp?
If so, any plans to release a new Funkadelic and/or Parliament album proper? Like he was gonna do back in 1999/2000?

I don't anything know about a "solo project" and how this would differ from a "presents cd", but the plans are for soundboard live recordings and more solo projects from bandmembers where George would be producer and maybe do cameos.

As taken for the press kit online at
http://www.sonicbids.com/...k_id=40216

"Now George has created his own label, The C Kunspyruhzy that will release George's first studio album in ten years, followed by solo recordings by individual members of the P-Funk empire. Clinton also plans to release a collection of Parliament-Funkadelic, and P-Funk All Stars live recordings gleaned from board tapes. Called the Uncut Funk Series, the live CD’s will incorporate some of the best shows over the past thirty years and will be augmented with superior graphics and extensive liner notes. “We got four generations of fans out there who keep bugging me to get these live shows out there, and now’s the time,” George says. “I’ve seen what the Grateful Dead have been doing with their archives, as well as bands like Pearl Jam, and I figured it was time to show the world what the funk is all about.”
