D'ANGELO

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE D'ANGELO. SAW HIM AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY, AND HE WAS AWESOME. THE HORNS AND ARRANGEMENTS WERE NOTHING SHORT OF CHILLING AT TIMES. LONG DIRTY FUNK JAMS WITH A FALSETTO TO DIE FOR. ONE OF THE BEST GIGS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO-VERY REMENICENT OF PARADE CONCERTS. AGREE/DISAGREE.

ANY WAY MY POINT IS

1 WERE IS THE PROMISED LIVE ALBUM.
2 WERE IS THE NEWS FROM OKAY PLAYER.
3 IS HE IN THE STUDIO WORKING ON NEW SHIT?
4 HAVING MADE SUCH AN IMPACT WITH THE VOODOO ALBUM AND TOUR. I THINK PERSONALLY THAT HE HAS LOST AN OPERTUNITY, WHEN THE MOMENTUM WAS STRONGLY WITH HIM TO BECOME A WORLD WIDE STAR. WITH THE YOUNG AND OLD.

ALL THOSE CATS WHO WERE DIGGIN MARVIN AND TEDDY ETC IN THE 70'S WOULD BE CHECKING OUT THE ALBUMS. A WIDER FAN BASE COULD HAVE BEEN FOUND, MAYBE CROSS OVER. I HAVE EVERY FAITH IN D'S INTEGRITY AND TALENT JUST WANT TO HEAR SOME NEW JAMS!!!

IS THAT A CRIME???

i was at that gig at Brixton and it was fucking awesome. Probably the best gig i've been to (although Ozomatli and Bilal last year was up there). His voice was so much better live than it is on record. That's the only problem with voodoo - he doesn't show off his voice enough. It's got all the best bits of Marvin Gaye, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green, and too many people dismiss him as an r 'n' b singer as opposed to a proper soul singer. One day his get the respect he's due...

New album in 2003 - can barely wait

I was at D'Angelo Brixton and Bilal Shepherds Bush too. Two of the best from the new breed easily.

My favourites anyway. smile

Never heard anything about that and I run Lynden's only website. He's never mentioned it although he did jam with some soulquarians and Raph Saadiq on visit to USA I remember.

He is currently writing songs with Raphael Saadiq for a new album. Remember it took him almost five years to release a follow up to Brown Sugar and its been 2 plus years since Voodoo. He believes in taking his time until he feels the album is ready. I myself will be looking forward to the new project whenever it is released.

D'Angelo is FINE! I did not like most of the songs on VOODOO probably for the simple fact that I couldn't relate. That track wit Raphael Saadiq is HOT!

Yeah I have those, check the Detroit 2CD boot also, as that one's a complete Voodoo show. Although the sound quality is somewhat lacking.

The London Jazz Cafe 1995 show is must have also.

Has Prince ever sang "how does it feel"?
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

Yeah my best friend who is also a musician saw this guy live and told me the arrangements were banging and he put on a mean show. I remember being the first person around my area and innercircle to cop Brown Sugar and rushing out to buy Voodoo on it's release date and I can tell you I can't wait to hear some new stuff from D.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.
