Bitches Brew I've crossed the borders of the voodoo again. Sat here
behind my desk with a fuming pot of Thyme, Sage, Lemon and clove tea on one side and a big mug full of fresh, grinded coffeebeans on the other. It's dark outside, the doors to the garden are open n the heat is thick and moist tonight. The only lights are a few faintly shimmering candles and the glare of my computerscreen. Enter Miles Davis I decided to play Bitches Brew again tonight, an album I save for special occasions. The only album I've been affraid to ever wear out and therefore permint myself to listen to no more than once every three or four or even five months so that it kicks my ass with the same severety every single time. I love Miles and own dozens of his albums but this one is most enigmatic and beautiful to me. Although I love the beauty and silence of "Kind of Blue" n "Nefertiti" or "In a Silent Way" or his very early stuff, I figure this is probably among my top 5 records by any artist, any time anywhere. --- Enough with the mood pieces What I was wondering is wether I'd be well off if I decided to treat myself to the "Complete Bitches Brew Recordings" boxset. I know I probably will be, but I was wondering if any of y'all already have it and what it's like. I am in particular very interested to know if the unreleased track are anywhere near as cool as the released songs and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

most of the unreleased stuff is available elsewhere.. (because of all the other reissues)
Corrado is a fucking awesome track though (and I think it's only on the Complete BB sessions)

Good choice. This was my 1st intro to Miles. My parents had this LP in their stash back in the day. For a loooong time I couldn't look at the LP cover. As a kid, it freaked the shit out of me. When I got into Jimi later on, I remember reading Miles was recording this LP and wanted Jimi on it. Jimi was knee deep in other things and couldn't do the sessions. When I heard the whole LP, it made sense. I just listened to the whole "Complete Sessions" yesterday. Still mindblowing and it set the stage for fusion and ambient music later on.
