I just saw Sigur Ros in concert... ...and it was mesmerizing.
Surely the most relaxing and beautiful concert I've ever been to. Superimpositions of tree branches, spooky dolls' faces, silhouettes of birds dancing on a telephone wire, amoebic shapes morphing into faces all played on the screen behind them. It was just...gorgeous. If you ever have a chance to see them live, GO!

There was some question about whether it was going to happen but you have just helped make the decision easier. It sounds like exactly what I need right now and may be the last chance to see them togehter. thank you and glad you enjoyed it so much. Where did you see them? Music is the language of the spirit. It was in a small theater in Durham, NC. I'm surprised that Durham was one of their stops; nobody ever goes there! But it was the perfect venue for a show like that - small enough to be intimate, but large enough to accomodate a highly visual/aural show. Who is Gangsta? What city will you be seeing them in?

But I know I won't find it in my hometown and my friend was dying to hear it, so I just sussed it out online. What else you spinning?

Both Arcade Fires, the latest Decemberists, Beck's latest, Emma's latest (), an old Robyn Hitchcock, Coldplay's latest and St Etienne's latest... Not to mention I've neglected the latest New Order and the Faith reissue

Have you listened yet? New Order I've spun twice. It was nice, but kinna got shoved aside so I could do my concert prep The Cure hasn't been outta the box I'm not allowed to go shopping again till I listen to that... Well, except to pick up Sigur Ros (thought I'd try to get back on subject for a sec)

The new album sounds a little happier than the previous ones, although "happy" wouldn't be the word to describe it. Just a bit more upbeat, I guess. The xylophone is more prominent (not sure if they used a xylophone at all on the others, but on the new one you can hear it clearly). During the show they played on it for a couple of songs, too.
When they played Svefn-g-englar, I cried! I'm such a wimp. They didn't say a word the entire time. And the singer is sooooo tiny! I wanted to hug him! I wanted the show to go on all night. It was just such a wonderful experience. Shows usually are not like that. The other shows I go to usually consist of sweat, the cramming, the smell of beer, the people behind you screaming the lyrics into your ear. This one was just wonderfully relaxing, like a massage or something. I just loved it!

GangstaFam ~ THE best person to go to a concert with. He will move mountains to meet artists, get good seats, make sure everyone is comfortable, drive hours to see artists he loves, seek out their set lists and obscure songs etc. He has turneed my life around musically. Oh ~ and he's a pretty great friend too. for gangsta. And thank you for the beautiful reviews. We are seeing them in Ann Arbor, Michigan ~ a fabulous University (of Michigan) town in a smallish venue.I can't wait! Music is the language of the spirit.
