About 5 years ago all the major retailers start liquidating cassete tapes. I was able to finish off many collections thank to that...and could be seen devouring bins like a crack fiend.... Like I was gonna pay 13 Bucks for people are people. -3.99- [Edited 9/5/05 15:21pm]

Best thing I have is a worn LP of Meet The Beatles (US Capitol). First thing I need to do is complete my Beatles lp collection. That's a good goal to shoot for.

Over the years, I have bought maybe 6 copies of 1999 as replacements. "Did u love somebody

I eventually got CD editions of all those and still have the vinyl copies. However, I can't understand the reason for having 5, 6, 7, copies of an album much less 17 or 30. well, some people are completists to the extreme, and if that's what makes 'em happy, then good for them. they're not hurting anyone. myself, i'm only a completist in that i want to have one version of every song i can get my mitts on - after that, i'm happy. i used to be a bit more of a format hag in the past, but now that i'm a little more prudent with my money and the space in which i can store things, i'm a bit more on the minimalist side of things...as much as i CAN be, anyway... Well, if buying 30 copies of an album keeps you from going out and shooting people, then by all means keep buying. I still won't understand the need to keep a copy of an album in every room of your house, two copies in your car, etc.

Same thing happened to me. There are really only a few artists that I buy every CD single of anymore. CD singles are a whole different story! I've got four "Caught A Lite Sneeze" singles.

I've probably bought 5 copies of SOTT (2 vinyl, 2 CDs, 1 cassette) and 5 of Lovesexy (2 LP/2CD/1cass). I've bought 4 copies of Parade (2LP/2CD), 3 copies of Purple Rain (2LP/1CD), and 3 copies of ATWIAD(2 LP/1CD).
Why? Because 1) I wore them out in the 80's and 90's, and 2) I wanted pristine LP versions for my collection later. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

In the 80s and early 90s, as soon as I bought an album, I would make a cassette copy then put the album away and listen to the cassette non stop. When the tape wore out, I just made a new copy from my album that had been only played once or twice before. That way I wouldn't have to buy an album over and over.

I use to do that with cd that are harder to replace (limited edition stuff etc), thank god copying a cd to a cd has become as easy as it is today. Cause i hated tapes, I'm one of those who want to skip between tracks. It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

As for me a shit load of promo's from back in the day. The record Promoters would give you more than one copy of an albums, 12" single of a song, remixes special-remixes. Using wax you'd get scratches so you needed back-ups.I use to give the extra extra extra extra copies to crowd. [Edited 9/6/05 20:00pm]

I have bought Appetite for Destruction by G N' R about 8 times in the past 10 years. Mainly because i've lost it or scratched up the disc. I've had it on vinyl, tape and about 5 cd's. I can't not have that cd in my collection as it is my all time favorite record!
