but see, I'm a die hard famatic and hate invincible just like everyone.

so it's my honest opinion when I say History is up there with classics. I'm not trying to defend his shit because everyone hates them and I'm all offended.

Overall, what he really needs is to look more hip and down to earth. This "King of Pop" bullshit isn't going to fly anymore,

*high five 2 U*

I couldn't agree with this more! MJ actually lost me as a fan, when he started calling himself that. But, I think now, he's personal life has overshadowed his musical legacy, I dont think he can make a come back.

Financially, psychologically, even PHYSICALLY the man is tremendously fucked up, and it half seems the man is barely able to function as a sane human being, let alone a creative entity. Then again, being fucked up can produce great art; just look at Sly when he recorded There's A Riot Going On. But I don't think MJ's the same sort of musician that Sly is, that is I don't think music is what gets him up in the morning and keeps him alive the way it kept sly alive during that period in his life, I think MJ gets his gratification from fame, adulation and commercial acceptance as much as, and perhaps even more than expressing himself through music, because of the lack of normal, healthy love he's had in his life. If MJ could channel his fucked-upedness into an album effectively, it would probably be the greatest statement of insular darkness since "Riot", but I'm not sure if he's capable of even disciplining himself that much.

You've got it going on - as much as I love Michael and his music to date..I agree with all of this. However, I'm sure he will try to make an effort. I bet he has one more album (at least) in him. Look back to what you said...His commercial acceptance is what inspires him..motivates him..so he is going to give it a shot. Now will it be a big deal? Personally I don't know. I hope it is but the public might just associate him with the 2005 trial now and not as much as his awesome music. Who knows?

I gotta say if he does not decide to head back into the studio - I hope he lets the fans have a CD of stuff from his vault. Some of his vaulted material from "The Ultimate Collection" was jammin!

i defiently rate history higher then off the wall, its my favourite michael album to date. off the wall is defiently the most overrated album ever. and i dont agree with the theroy that only mj fans rate history above off the wall. i think most young people rate it higher as it appeals much more to them. thats what ive noticed on mj boards. most young people find off the wall boring, i know as ive tested it out on friends and family. and because michael is aiming more at young people if he puts a cd out, he should do a more history sounding album. and history obviously was liked just as much as off the wall to the general public as it sold the exact same amount as off the wall worldwide.

Michael Jackson to Record Hurricane Relief Song

Created: Tuesday, 06 September 2005

Michael Jackson to Record Hurricane Relief Song Fundraising Project titled:
“From the Gulf to the Gulf”

Within 24 hours, Mr. Jackson will be reaching out to other recording superstars asking that they join him in this project to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina

Washington, D.C. ……. In response to the widespread devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, Recording Superstar Michael Jackson has been moved to pen a song, with the working title, “From the Bottom of My Heart.”

Hoping to rekindle the success of “We Are the World,” which he wrote and produced, and which raised millions of dollars for aid to Africa, Mr. Jackson will be enlisting, within the next 24 hours, the involvement of other recording superstars to join him in this project. It is his intention to record this record within the next two weeks.

“It pains me to watch the human suffering taking place in the Gulf Region of my country,” says Mr. Jackson. “My heart and prayers go out to every individual who has had to endure the pain and suffering caused by this tragedy. I will be reaching out to others within the music industry, to join me in helping to bring relief and hope to these resilient people who have lost everything.”

The song will be recorded on 2 Seas Records, a label owned by Prince Abdulla Hamad Alkhalifa of Bahrain. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Further details will follow.

'Can MJ make a comeback?'

Of course he can.

He's made it to court before ... what's to say he can't make another appearance?

Just read this on Housequake.com(thanks Robbie):

from Billboard.com

Sep 13, 2005

Michael Jackson has recruited pop superstar Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Jay Z and James Brown and other top artists to perform on a charity single for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, his spokesperson said.

Also joining Jackson will be Lenny Kravitz, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Ciara, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Yolanda Adams, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige and 1970s soul icons the O'Jays, according to spokesperson Raymone Bain.

"Mr. Jackson is continuing to reach out to artists who would like to work with him on this project, which he humbly hopes will make a tremendous difference to all individuals who have been affected by this tragedy, Bain said.

Jackson, who raised more than $60 million for African famine relief in the mid-1980s with a campaign built around his anthem "We Are the World," announced last week that he had been moved by images of Katrina's devastation to write a song for the hurricane's victims.

Bain has said that the 47-year-old singer, who left his Neverland Valley Ranch in California for Bahrain after his June acquittal on sex abuse charges, will return to the United States to record the song, tentatively titled "From the Bottom of My Heart."

All proceeds will be donated to hurricane victims, Bain said.

I think Michael can make a comeback if he starts writing and composing his songs without collaborators again. Michael made a huge mistake co-writing songs on Invincible with too many different songwriters and producers.

Michael won't have a problem making a comeback in Europe and the rest of the world. Michael's History album was a huge success selling 15 million worldwide and the History Tour was a huge success. The only place were it's uncertain if Michael can make a comeback is in his own country the USA were from what I see the audiences are far more fickle, and there are too many tacky tabloid tv shows. For Michael to make a comeback in the USA he's really going to have to work hard, and a tour of the USA which Michael hasn't done since 1989 would be a good and positive thing for him to do, after doing a major USA tour worked well for Prince's comeback to mainstream America.

Mj can still come with the goods, Invincible just needed to be stripped down thats all, just down to 10 tracks and it would have been a tight album,

songs like

Butterflies
Whatever Happens
Don't Walk away

arent just good songs

they are also one of the best stuff he has produced..
its still in them , its just dusting off the bullshit like the lost children...

Butterflies was one of the highlights of the album...he needs to work with those Floetry chicks again...It's basically the essence of the Off The Wall sound...very warm and soulful....
