Did anyone buy that Jasmine Guy album?? ..that came out about 15 years ago?? I never did, I do remember a song called "try me" it was okay, but she's better at acting than singing imo. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I may have had the album on cassette but not quite sure. The song I really liked off that album was the slow song Just Wanna Hold You. I found it for downloading just last year. She's a great dancer too. Sometimes I think the singing is just a better platform to showcase the dancing ie, Debbie Allen, Paula Abdul. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I bought that on cassette back when and my mother actually liked it alot...'Another like my lover" and "Just wanna hold you" were nice songs. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

She looks too severe and that voice is shrill and pretentious, so if she worked as stripper I would not tip her very well. test

I heard she sang background on Cree Summer's album. Now that Dead Like Me has been cancelled, I wonder what she's up to.
By the time 1990 rolled around, mainstream Top 40 music had grown increasingly “urban-informed” in sound and look: the biggest chart toppers included: Soul II Soul, Paula Abdul, Milli Vanilli, and Janet Jackson....Even Jasmine Guy from NBC’s A Different World released an album that actually performed quite well, with three singles: “Try Me,” “Another Like My Lover,” and “I Just Wanna Hold You.” Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Yeah its a suprisenly consitant lil' album. I got the "try me" video. She could do all them newjack steps (she always did on "a different world" too).
"try me" is freakin' awesome. Love that track. One of full force's best. She does a "opposites attract" ripoff with mc skat kat on "dont want money" (an obvious ironic tie in with her tv series). Good song. My man timmy gatling did the more newjack laced "another like my lover". "I wish you well" is a nice closer. My fave more soulful cut is "more love" though. Good song

She's a trained dancer... Cool. ANother girl from the show (the old student- the girl in her 30's), i swear I saw her as a fly girl on one of my few in living color episodes I still got. Keenen Ivory Wayans gave shout outs to the fly girls one time and I swear it was her. i forget her name in the show though. "yo jazz what it sound like?" "sounds like someone to work with....full force, step to 'em"

"sounds like someone to work with....full force, step to 'em" You're talking about Big Lez (Leslie) who was never on Different World but was in the beginning credits of "Living Single" and co-hosted "Rap City". I don't even thin she was a fly girl, but may have been. Dawn Lewis was in Different World and was never a fly girl Two different people [Edited 9/9/05 21:13pm]
