What are your thoughts on the Victory album?

How is the Victory album by the Jacksons? I'm thinking of checking it out. I love state of shock and torture is cool too!

I always seem to dismiss it, but in truth there are only 2 tracks I dislike (Body & We Can Change The World).

It's one of those less killer, more filler albums than suffers from a thin and plastic 80's-synthesizer production. At least it's their best-selling record. My favorite tracks on there has to be Torture and Body. The rest just sucks. Not alot of Mike on this one!

I think it's maybe the best jacksons album! Really great, and highly underrated!

This album blows!! I'm really interested in knowing what they were trying to accomplish with this album. They traded in the funky soul for some barf right after Destiny, Off The Wall, Triumph, and Thriller? Really, what the hell were they thinking when they made this lp.

There are only three good songs on it IMO

Torture (nice hearing Michael and Jermaine trading vocals) - Jackie did a good job composing this one although it sounds a little dated nowdays

Wait - this is a grower IMO (also a Jackie song)

One more chance (by Randy) - a wonderful song IMO but the drumprogramming is awful

The rest of the album was really bad by Jacksonstandards.

Actually no, I don't feel State of Shock. Maybe it is because of Mick Jagger, I don't know. I would have prefered Freddie Mercury on it.

Anxiety

i had it when i was a kid. i thought it was confounding because of the wax MJ dummy they used in the 'torture' video - i thought they brought in a michael clone to record the album, too. lol

Victory is actually a great, but underated album. It is the only JAcksons LP too feature all SIX bros. I rwad somewhere that, altough a Jacksons LP, it was really to put the other bros in the spotlight not named Michael and Jermaine. Since they would be breaking up, the other bros needed something too fall back on.

Torture - A great track song by Michael and Jermaine in classic Motown form.

Wait - Great track by Jackie with Mike and Jermaine at the end.

One More Chance - Song by Randy, the best track on the CD. Randys vocals and lyrics are great.

Be Not Always - Pass. Mike solo, don't like it

State Of Shock - Top 5 hit in 84, enough said.

We Can Change The World - Tito's solo. Love the arrangement

The Hurt - Most underated track. Marlon is on lead. Not the best, but not the worst.

Body - Marlon song hit single (Hit may be pushing it) Still a fun track though.

I ran a thread about the best song on the album, "State Of Shock" awhile back. Other than that, I was very letdown when it first came out.

That the rest of the family should benefit from Michael's unprecedented success--just like the tour that followed. I'm no huge MJ fan, but he really sacrificed for the sake of his family by not just doing a Thriller tour.

This was the first "Jacksons" album I ever heard when I was little, I grew up with this one.

It is pish-patchy.

Torture *** of course u know that
The Hurt *** scary and weird..reminds me of "Your Ways"
Be Not Always ** I only appreciated this after reading Michael wanted so desperately to make a song where he was going to cry at the end, but it didnt come out really the way he wanted it.
State Of Shock **** headbang
One More Chance **** I love this song. Janet even had to remake this song. It is very passionate and endearing.
Body *** This song has a carribean / dance vibe ot it. It was a single and featured girls in bakinis dancing supposedly, though I have never seen it. I like the vocals and the "yeah yeah.."'s in the background at the end.

I would make sure to get some of the other jacksons albums b4 this one though.

The drum-programming isn´t awful at all. come on, mr.paulinho da costa, who also was on MJ´s "of the wall"&"thriller" does the percussion (shakin´it)

"State Of Shock" is alot of fun....the lyrics aren't great, but I liked it alot back then.I always laugh at the end when Mick Jagger says...

Look at me! Look at me! Oh....look at me

falloff

"Torture" is cool....sounding very haunting and mysterious. The other songs aren't very inspired.

I think I mainly want it for state of shock. So can you recommend another album maybe a comp with that track on it?
