Evelyn Champagne King!

Oh man, I bought her Greatest hits cd today and it rocks! She's awesome. She aint no Cheryl "got ot be real" Lynn but she still rocks! Some of her early stuff is like electro new wavish funk! I'm not too kenane on the more disco-y stuff but it's all good. I can't believe she was only 17 when she recorded shame. She sounds so mature. Anyone else like her?

nod She definitely was one of my vocal influences. Some of my favorite songs by her were I'm In Love, Love Come Down, Betcha She Don't Love You, Shame, Kisses Don't Lie. Alot of her songs were produced by Kashief.

I swear to you, I was just jammin to "Shame" right before I got to my house. She was the bomb. I'd like to hear something new from her. And I totally agree with you chico4U, Love Come Down is the shiznit, especiall the extended version.

I can't really get into shame for some reason. Too disco-fied for me I suppose.

I remember I bought it last year (it was right around this time....I ordered a bunch of CDs through Columbia House and got them Labor Day weekend). I wasn't overly impressed but songs like "Love Come Down", "High Horse", "Shame" and yes, "I'm In Love" (thank you Janet) kicked my butt, so it's worth the buy for those songs.

Yep, it reminds me of my late cousin. We used to sit and write skits and record them on a cheap ass tape recorder. We sang the hell out of this song. It was hilarious, to us. Good times, good times.
