Some artist do this only 2 improve their profile and get more respect 2 their insignificant careers.

and?

in the end..if more money is raised i dont care what the artist motives are.

What exactly can the general public and a bunch of celebrities do at this moment?

Answer: EVERYTHING THEY CAN.

Oh and I don't see Prince skipping over Louisana and Mississippi when he tours. I bet he didn't mind taking tour $$$ from them all these years. I'd ask the same of him that I would any and everyone else: What are you doing to help? If you're not gonna help, say so and I'll change the channel every time I see you and pass up your CDs every time I see them. If there's a benefit concert like this, artists should be begging to play. Is it so bad to ask a muthafucka who plays and sings for money to play and sing for money? Its not like I asked him for the keys to his ride or something.

That is the dumbest shit I ever heard. You should be ashamed of yourself, that in this catastrophy, all you can focus on what where is Prince and what HE should do. Get a life motherf**ker he don't owe you anything.

Focus your anger on those who let the people of Louisanna, Mississippi and Alabama down by not having supplies ready in advance of the hurricane. You don't know Prince personally, do not have access to his bank statements to know whether or not he donates and how much.

I work for a non-profit organization where we accept donations in the hundreds of thousands from philanthropists who specifically request to remain anonymous, because they don't want to be recognize for charity that they should be doing anyway. Some people just prefer to donate without their names being in lights.

Enough is enough with this retarded nonsense!!!!!

Is Prince gonna do the benefit concert or the telethon for the people of New Orleans and Mississippi? Any entertainer who has taken a political view on a record needs to step up and do their part. People like Usher, Alicia and even silly ass David Banner who are not known for expressing any political views are stepping up to help raise money for this disaster. Where's Prince?
Yeah, I went there.

LoL. If you had a BRAIN to THINK, you would realize how retarded your posts are. Don't play the "turning words around" routine. I call it like it is. I READ all the posts, and my statement stays the same. If you want to judge an entertainer based on VISIBILITY and what charity concerts he/she does that's your business. I don't know how Prince or any celebrity contributes before, during, or after a disaster so its not my place to judge and just because they are not on stage, does not mean they are not doing anything worthwhile.

Wow. Thank you for assessing ALL my posts and coming to a conclusion about them. I guess there are lots of geniuses posting on Prince.org. What? Did Prince send all his little NPGMC drones over here to read this? Visibility is not a bad thing at times, especially when those times involve a national disaster in your own country.
I don't back down from what I said. It would be a good time to show visible support instead of being annonymous.

HA! This is classic. biggrin So when all else fail with your point you bring NPGMC into it. HOW PATHETIC!!! I also won't back down from what I said. Good for those who participate in a concert only to raise money and not their image, AND good for those who contributed behind the scenes.

You don't get a look like this from participating in icky relief efforts, I'll tell you that for free.
There's not much to add to this unshocking tale of shocking callousness and bad taste (and we're not talking about the Ferragamo pumps). From Gawker:

"According to Drudge, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently enjoyed a little Broadway entertainment. And Page Six reports that she’s also working on her backhand with Monica Seles. So the Gulf Coast has gone all Mad Max, women are being raped in the Superdome, and Rice is enjoying a brief vacation in New York. We wish we were surprised."

"What does surprise us: Just moments ago at the Ferragamo on 5th Avenue, Condoleeza Rice was seen spending several thousands of dollars on some nice, new shoes (we’ve confirmed this, so her new heels will surely get coverage from the WaPo’s Robin Givhan). A fellow shopper, unable to fathom the absurdity of Rice’s timing, went up to the Secretary and reportedly shouted, “How dare you shop for shoes while thousands are dying and homeless!” Never one to have her fashion choices questioned, Rice had security PHYSICALLY REMOVE the woman."

blaque i couldnt' agree with u more, u were dead on it!

yall'r right, prince DONT owe them nothing, and this aint his responsibility. but there are people who look up to him and other artists, people who might not have wanted to give. now i can almost garuntee that these same people, once they see someone they look up to helping, then they'll wanna help too. its that monkey see monkey do mentality. theres NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING VISIBLE. i swear some of you are acting like prince doing a benefit show is selling out, its not, get over it, yea he could do something privately and he probly is, but i know if I was down there, in hell, suffering and my fav. artist was visible in supporting us, that it would put a little smile on my face, bring a bit of sunshine to my afternoon
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

So, God punished the poorest -- and I don't know if you've been to New Orleans, but these really could be the POOREST -- of American society for a war started by and benefiting only the wealthy of American society? Even where gas prices are concerned, the rich are barely inconvenienced.

So, how does your alleged justice thesis hold up? Flesh it out for us, please. Because your post is putting forth an unjust argument.

I hate to say this, but PRince is a JW, and this kind of disaster is a JW's wet dream, cuz it contributes to their "end of the world" theories...

having said that, I still hope he contributes something...money, preferably. doesn't have to be high profile, either. He can do it in secret. He helped Marva Collins's cause in secret for many years.

If Prince is going to contribute, I would rather see him contribute privately or throw a benefit concert of his own rather than perform with a bunch of tired ass current performers. He still has his image to think of which has already been tarnished by performing with the likes of Beyonce.
