Is Marty the one who did the acoustic version of "Mr. Brightside"? If so...he's good. I've only seen two episodes of this though. Whoever did Seal's "Crazy" did a good job too. I haven't watched recent episodes that's why I'm backtracking.

Yes, Marty did that acoustic version. He's very intense and an excellent singer. The final 5 are very good singers and performers.

The final 6 - hell - the final 7 were all really good rock singer/performers. It's gotta be hard cutting them out, one by one.

I was pretty surprised that TY pulled the race card on his way out. That was pretty embarassing.

Nothing like that ever surprises me. It happens everyday (unfortunately). Ty was a great singer and performer, it's too bad he went out making such a pathetic comment like that. As a white person, it never crossed my mind that he wouldn't get chosen because he's black. I thought he had as much of a chance as any of the others.

Great show! Everyone is so talented. I was also surprised by Ty's comments. He did not seem right for INXS from the beginning to me, that's just my opinion. He is very talented and a great singer.
I really like Marty, Mig is a good performer, he has experience behind him where Marty seems a bit shy on stage. The last two shows were pretty awesome.

wave I'm still watching.

I think the remaining contestants are all very good singers (with the exceptions of J.D. and Marty - Marty's a sweetheart, but really more of a screamer than a singer).

I don't think the band will pick a woman and Jordis and Suzie are really not compelling front people anyway. That leaves Mig. Kind of a bland choice, but he seems like a great guy and he's an Aussie.

As for Ty's comments, there may be some truth to them, but he had nothing to gain by making them. Great singer, but a bit of a Broadway-ish stage presence that does not scream "sincerity". Rock fans want the singer to look like he's living the lyrics and Ty just could never seem to pull that off.

The die was already cast, so what was the damage in Ty saying he would bring "soul" to the band. He certainly has a point.

To be honest, I don't think there's any possible way INXS would give a black guy or a woman a spot lead their band. I know they said they are open to accepting a woman as lead singer, but that really changes the nature of the band and frankly, both Jordis and Ty are better suited for solo careers or their own bands. I could see myself looking for any solo record they spin off.

I think the sandy blonde guy who sang "Wish You Were Here" is best suited for the band. was that Mig?

That's bullshit, you know there are few black rock singers; it may have actually been racism. You know how flaky all the white people who vote on that show must be.

Look at Prince, many reject his music because of the rock element, the idea that he isn't being 'black' enough.

But his comments were dead on. America wasn't going to see him as the lead for INXS. You KNOW this. America (and other countries) can't get over the stigma of African Americans being in rock and roll. Face it, he performed his ASS off for the past three weeks, and he STILL got voted in the bottom 3???? How did he get in the bottom 3 last week when Jordis couldn't hit a damn note to save her life with the song "Dream On", and she did NOT get in the bottom 3?? Explain that. I'm not saying people were openly racist in not voting for Ty, but let's face it...they'd rather see another type face front this band, including the band itself. The world's just not used to seeing a black face with rock, and that's all Ty was saying. And he's 100% correct, too!!! He wasn't "pulling the race card", he was just telling the truth.

My logic for voting would be based on who fits the band INXS. Who's voice would compliment the band's music past, present and future. No matter what color or gender.
I do not think it helped Ty last night when he sang the wrong words to an INXS song.

Viewers end up picking the "bottom 3", but the ultimate deicision of who stays lies with the bandmembers.

I'll buy that though I think his Broadway roots make him more precise in his craft whic may cut thru his sincerity. Plus he sets "GAYDAR" into the red!
eek

Not that it matters, but it brings up whether he'd want a more r&b standing akin to Luther. Did he ever take the stage playing an axe? Some serious guitar chops would cement him as a rocker.

True, but Suzie was in the bottom 3 FOUR straight times, and wasn't let go by INXS, but the reason they let Ty go was because that was his third straight time in the bottom 3. Doesn't make any sense to me. Sorry, y'all, but last night just left a bad taste in my mouth for that show (a show my fiancee and I followed mainly because of Ty).

This is a TV show and they are now cutting the remaining contestants accordingly. Keeping Suzie around is more dramatic (because she'd started and had remained near the bottom) - she's "The Comeback Kid". Ty, on the other hand, had been pretty popular early on; there's no "story" there. Hey, if it was all about talent, J.D. would've been gone a long time ago.

Suzie sang "Bohemean Rhapsody" which is really a "trick" song: a pastiche of different operatic styles sung mostly tongue-in-cheek; a rock anthem and totally bereft of any real emotion. Still one has to have a lot of range to pull it off. She pimped that hoe just right when she led off with "Y'all ready to do the head thing?" Party on Garth.

(o, that was the encore, wasn't it?)

Sadly I missed Ty's farewell last night. I was at a baseball game. But I have been watching this show every week and it just gets better and better.

I loved TY...his voice had so much power and he outdid himself couple weeks back when he not only had his song to sing but to collaborate on an original song with that raspy-voiced girl who went home that week. He showed he's very talanted and is very easy to work with and has more stage presence than anyone in that bunch.

HOWEVER...I do think Mig is going to win. He's closer to the band's age (he's 35 or 36), an aussie, and has wowed them (and me) every week. To me he seems to be the perfect fit. I'm only judging by this weeks assignment when they had to learn the lyrics and melody to an unreleased INXS song. The song sounded very Adult Alternative/Contemporary and if the band choose to go in that VH-1, Adult Crossover format....Mig is the perfect fit...he's a softy just like them. Ty, Marty, and the Prick (MJ, or DJ...cant remember hate him) all seem to have more of a harder edge and I dont think that's what the next wave of INXS is going to sound like....they're much older now and I can see them going the U2 route of mellowing out. And Mig has the perfect voice for that...he's also the nicest guy on the show....and his competition seem to love him too!

Anyway...sorry to see TY go...but I'll be looking out for his solo shows here in LA should he do any...we havent heard the last of him.

peace
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Anybody else think JD tries way too hard to sound just like Michael Hutchence?

Ty has the best voice, imo, but the most rock-n-roll thing about him is his hair.

I agree. And if he wears the leather jacket over naked chest and sunglasses ever again, I'm gonna puke. The girls in the audience need to stop reacting to him. rolleyes

From Jordis' blog:
"Rock stars I'd like to have to dinner

If I could invite any Rock Stars to dinner, I would invite Keith Richards, Nikki Sixx, Ozzy, Johnny Rotten, Flava Flav, George Clinton, Hank III, maybe throw a little Jessica Simpson action in there no, on second thought Ashlee Simpson - picture that - it would be priceless. With a little bit of chicken and a cocktail or two, that would be the best dinner ever
"

She also had MUSICOLOGY on a list of Best album for a long road trip
(makes me wonder where she has headed eek )

fantastic show....I thought Ty was amazing but I agree that he isn't right for INXS...he will have a great career with a different band.

personally i hope Marty wins...Jordis is also fantastic but with a different band and i think Mig has a good chance of winning.

i think JD should have gone home this week and Suzi, her rendition of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was atrocious...i think INXS was on crack with their comments on her performance...i thought i must have been listening to something other than what they were!!??

i think the band has already chosen who the final two will be...with the final decision made by them they have the power to choose everything...having 'the public' vote for the bottom 3 is just a farce...the band has total control. plus it IS their band. i think the excuses they made to get rid of Ty were false...they needed to tell him SOMETHING so using the excuse he has been in the bottom three 3 times was the only thing they could come up with. what else could they say??? your performances were horrible?? you don't quite have ebought energy for us?? your voice sucks???

i think this is BY FAR the best musical reality show ever...'American Idol' is ridiculous in comparison.

wink

eye hate to say it but your comments are dead on it. Aside from Ty's ass, the rest of the singers on that show in my opinion suck major ass big time. The whole fiasco was painful to watch. So, eye have to thank you guys for the highlights and keeping me up to speed.
