Look , some of the greatesrt guitar players ever were Black : BB King, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Ike turner, Otis Rush, Johnny Guitar Watson, Curtis Mayfield, Cornell Dupree, Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Eddie Hazel, Muddy Waters, Hubert Sumlin, Robert Cray, Albert Cillins, Albert King, Freddy King, Clarence Gatemouth Brown (RIP ), Vernon Reid, Slash, Jimi... these brilliant musicians probably get more respect, recognition, and admiration from whites (and Asians, like the Japanese who are fanatical about American culture ) than they do from Blacks today. So true black people want no part of black rock guitar. We are the freaks and oddities. We are not the norm. Huh?! From my experience, as up to today, and more than likely, tomorrow, whenever I gig or folks hear my recorded material, which is ladden with with rock guitar, (and funk), black folks dig it. A lot. Never, as long as I've been making music has black people not commented on my playing. And it's always positive. "Damn, player. You were ripping it up! or "Right on dawg! Keep carrying the torch" Those are examples of what's been said. Black women as well, really get into the rock aspect of my music. There are some on this very site that know firsthand of what I speak. My point is this; regardless of what the music industry promotes, it is not a true reading of what black folks dig or do not dig. Not every white person digs rock. Can't tell u how many black kids LOVE the music from the 70's and 80's. We are talking about material that had TONS of guitar in it. From The Isleys and Parliament/Funkadelic to Rick James and Prince, this was a standard. Granted, hip hop doesn't represent or feature guitar in most of it's tracks, BUT, that doesn't mean that hip hop listeners don't love the guitar. And that's including blacks. The thing I always hear from rappers in my area when they find out that I play is, "I wanna use you". Cats that can play an instrument still get respect in the inner-city, maybe because it's so rare where I'm from. Especially anybody that's plays rock/funk guitar. Now, as for the response from non-musicians, it's more of a mixed bag...they find it hard to sit still for a whole song, much less one with a guitar solo in it.
It's all good, though - I funk, therefore I am My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Seems they're lookin' more for "da beats" than any guitar riffs. At least that's what the history of rap amd a sampling indicates. I can count on 1 hand the number of black women showing for these type of gigs. It's something I actively do everytime. test
