I just recieved my latest copy of Rolling Stone magazine and I can't believe they gave the album 5 stars. It isn't truly groundbreaking or even a classic, but it's definitely one of the year's best and refreshing hip-hop albums just along with Common's excellent BE album. It's just a wonder which album will actually get a Grammy for Best Rap Album- Common's or Kayne's. I'll give Kayne West's Last Registration album only 4 stars out of 5 stars while I give his 2004 debut, The College Dropout, which will qualify to be one of my favorite hip-hop records, 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. The album version does have at least some political lyrics (cuz Q-Tip apparently schooled him). He shoulda trashed the first one completely, but that goes against his crossover strategy, I'm sure. still i feel its is missing some songs and is sometimes overproduced. hey mama needs to be stripped more to the original version in my opinion. what happened to bittersweet and improvise and home and some of the other tracks that leaked a months ago? still a great cd  home isnt on there?

I like the whole album.I got the Digipak version but in Addiction he kinda creeps me out with the line, "...I'll pour the lotion and do something to me and you thighs...", that part kinda turned me off on the song. | |

Musically, it's miles ahead of College Dropout..It has many more layers and grooves than his debut..I think by working with Jon Brion (Fiona Apples producer) Kanye has definitely extended his sound and he delivered on the hype...It's a damn good album and one of the best releases I've heard this year....By the way...I heard the numbers are looking like 850,000 the first week...damn... Late Registration has the same motif, but alot of the songs don't have anything to do with school. The skits, besides the first one, are pretty lame. | |

This album can not be appreciated unless you listen to it with a good pair of headphones. Gone is one of the best songs music wise that I have heard in a very long time. A classic. Anyway..whatever happened to "We Can Make It Better" ????  Why the fuck is it not on the album? U mean I gotta do another CD-R copy and add it myself . Ugh I hate doing that to good albums. I had to do that to Mariah's "Mimi" also..adding bonus tracks n shit uuggghhh...Straight Jacket Funk Affair
