After seeing David Eye's "Summer of 1981" thread, now I am starting a thread on my summer of music which is 1982. This was the summer between my ninth and tenth grade school years and I was used to be in the skating rink every Saturday night. The DJ was mixing and the floor was so full that it was hard to enter onto it. It was wall to wall and elbow to elbow.

"Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger)" by Donna Summer ---this is my favorite song from the summer of 82.I was really excited about Donna working with producer Quincy Jones.Vainandy,you know how you always say that today's R&B songs are too slow? Well,I bet you LOVE this song because it is FAST...VERY FAST! The fast arrangement forces Donna to hang on for dear life (lol).The background vocals (by Howard Hewitt and James Ingram) are vibrant and fierce,and this is easily the funkiest jam that Donna has ever done.

I remember in the late summer of '82,I heard "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6 for the first time and I didn't like it.I thought it was a stupid song.Of course,now I love it

Hell yeah. I bought the 45 as soon as I heard it on the radio. I used to pick up a Memphis radio station, WDIA, late at night that would fade in and out. On this station is where I heard the 12 Inch, which was later played in the skating rinks but never on the radio here in Jackson. Thanks to that Memphis station, I used to buy all the 12 Inches before Jackson had ever heard of them. My friends were begging for tapes and dying to know my "inside scoop".

Quick question:
Just heard what sounds like an older jam on the radio, maybe titled "Call Me" but not the Blondie track -- more soulful... There is a line in it like "here's my number and a dime, call me anytime"... I WANT IT! Do you guys know who this was?... Sounds very early '80s... Cant find it online.
