Bring Back Karyn White Whatever happened to that "three-fine, hot, talent-laden" bastard?
Karyn White came out large. Her 1988 self-titled album had "Secret Rendezvous", "Love the Way You Love Me", "Love Saw It", and the ultimate in "make your own damn dinner, you chauvanist prick" ballads "Superwoman". Not a one hit wonder she went gold with "Ritual of Love" (1991) that had "Romantic" and "The Way I Feel About You" (with that AWESOME video with Ms. White in the sexy hotel uniform). What was really cool is that she went from LA and Babyface on one album to Jam and Lewis on the other, getting to work with both the "by a long haul" best production teams in the 80-90's in consecutive albums. Whyte married Lewis, had a baby, said something about not wanting to be a skeezer like some of the ladies that were coming out at the time, released a fairly unsuccessful album in 94 and disappeared. Her pipes are missed (she could definitely sing) and she could have been much bigger but I guess I admire her integrity. Still she was fine and she was talented so let's bring her back! All good things they say never last...

[Edited 8/25/05 8:14am] No this is a "Bring Back" thread. I know where she probably is. Sitting in a huge mansion somewhere, counting diamonds or something. The BB Thread is not to question where they are now, it is to get these musical artists to get off their posteriors and make some music again. And for us, as consumers, to buy said artists music again. It is not every artist who is worthy of a BB Thread. It is only those who for a moment, brief or otherwise, stood out from the pack and made an impact in some way. All good things they say never last...

i say it all the time, karyn White was so underrated
if her last album was marketed the right way it would have been a classic r&b / soul album. it don't get no better with songs like "hungah", "weakness" and "can i stay with you". and from what i know she is no longer married to Terry Lewis but has a kid (or more, i'm not sure) from him. if anyone knows where i can find any live performances of her, let me know and oh yeah "LOVE SAW IT" was, no IS my jam. that song should be up there with "saturday love" as an all time great duet!!!!!

Man Karyn White was the shiznit! I used to love ehearing Romantic and The Way I Feel About You on the radio. That was during my favorite music year 1991. I would so love to hear from her again. Show all these heifers what's up. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The song is titled "Facts of Love."
"I need more than temporary satisfaction." "I need more than empty conversation." That's all I remember lyrically, if that's even right. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

I like the album "ritual of love"
I hate the song "superwoman" though. Funny that a guy wrote it though. "romantic" is awesome. Better then any song janet did.

funny that you say that because it sounds just like a janet track.. exactly. I like to think terry asked jimmy to hold it back for her then wife. As it was strong enough to be a janet track. "turn the liiiiights down, its time to get romantic"

I agree. The sad thing is that when R&B artist like White comeback (and that's if they do), nobody really notices. They should so release a proper greatest hits, with new material (not valut stuff, new material) and then comeback with a new CD. I'm pretty sure she retired though...
