I totally agree with you. Last Year's VMA's was pure agony to sit thru. I think that location plays a major role in how good an award show will be and I've always believed that the VMA's were perfect in New York. They never should have left it. They could have done it in Madison Square Garden if they felt like they needed to leave Radio City Music Hall.

The reason it was held in Miami last year was because the Republican National Convention was being held in New York about the same time, and the Repubs drove out everyone from Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall for their big bucks events for Bush's big oil and right wing Christian contributors. Why they chose to host it in Miami again, I have no idea.

As much as I'd like to see Mariah and Green Day, I have a feeling that the performances and show this year will be equal to last year, which I have to admit was one of the weakest VMA's of all time, if not the weakest. It looks like the planning for this awards show was meant to accomodate the "stars", the Hollywood glitterati (Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E!) and the corporate bigwigs at Viacom and not the audience which it's supposed to be aimed at.

I think last year's show had poor ratings and I honestly predict that with a host like P. Diddy who is very unrelatable to most people, it will be the lowest rated in years. I mean, are normal people supposed to know what a P. Diddy party is like....no, but normal people know that Chris Rock is funny and will break balls.

I totally forgot about the Republican Convention there that month. And I was in NYC July 04 and saw them building a brigde for MSG over 8th Avenue. You are dead on it 728huey about how this years VMA's are shaping up. I think it's going to be worst than last year and that was horrible. If for nothing else Diddy is the host and that kills it right there.

It's sad when you think about it. The VMA's aren't supposed to be like the other award shows and yet it has found a way to conform to being like every other show. And with Diddy, would most normal people even want to go let alone know what a P Diddy party's like? I for one could give a shit and I'm sure most of us here feel the same.

I think they will give all the awards to American artists, all signed to major labels, and throw in the odd one to a "world" artist or "independent" to prove they are not fixed.....

Again.

And that international artist will be Coldplay. You know they're getting at least one moonman.

i think the last good vmas was 2003. i think last year was the first time the show has ever been dull and boring. every vmas have had loads of memorable performances and moments, but 2004, i cant remeber one thing that happened

man i shudder at the thought of him hosting this. he seems so fake when he go on award shows. the ads on mtv are clear proof of this.
