MTV VMA predictions

Well I know once this Show airs this place is going to go NuTS with posts about the lameness of the show, so Let me get some predictions in early. First thing would be there is gonna be some kind of GIANT KANYE WEST performance, even bigger than his head. Second is that MARIAH (even though I love her) will Perform that same old lame ass "we belong together" and Lypsync the end note again for the 1000th time, oh well hopefully she will wear something HOT. A guess is that EVA LONGORIA will present an award with RICKY MARTIN, its the only 2 Latinos on the bill so MTV will do the usual thing. My guess is that the Best Performance is gonna be SHAKIRA, dont know why, just have a feeling, hopefully she gained some weight back and found her hips and ass again. Someone is gonna make a LAME statement about the War in Iraq, dont get me wrong Im against the War since day one, im just tired of artists using platforms like this and then not doing shit about it. Best outfit of the evening I think will be MYA, shes not scheduled to be a presenter but look for her, she always wins this part. Oh and of course this show will be rerun 63 times during the week.

If MTV wants to impress me or anyone who likes MUSIC, try inviting someone that respects MUSIC.

My prediction is that they will announce they will have a VERY SPECIAL suprise at the end of the show. And every damn one of us on the Org, to a person, will think it's Prince. Never mind how illogical it is, we'll think that he has been planning some top-secret thing and he will play something that will have the crowd on its collective feet. And we'll wait all night, patiently, biding our time. And then the night will come to the end and the VERY SPECIAL guest will be Tom Petty or Neil Young or fricking Axl Rose...or hell, probably Justin Timberlake coming up on stage to give us his latest Jacksonian dance moves.

Maybe this year, there will be a Wham! reunion. Hope, hope. thumbs up!

Nothing short of pathetic. Probably gonna be a lame live action version of Trapped in the Closet.

I hope the real surprise will be a hurricane rolling through ten minutes before it starts, therefor making it impossible for the show to go on.

Now that would be funny. The closing credits roll as he's debating left and right with the chick, her husband and his lover.

If that doesn't happen than I hope the ending surprise is a Katrina and the Waves reunion. Seems fitting and that could be just as destructive as a hurricane.

Somebody is trying to stop the madness. Those awards have been irrelevant for at least a decade.

They've been irrelevant but they have been fun to watch most years. I said it over at the other thread on Katrina and the VMA's, this is what MTV gets for having an award show in a city that is a very good candidate for a natural disaster like a hurricane, especially right in the middle of hurricane season. Further proof as to how far from reality MTV is from "the real world" and I hope it fucks their shit up.

I have to agree with you. I enjoyed parts of the last 5 years but the last time I enjoyed it as a whole was in 1999. Plus it was the last time Prince showed up at the VMA's.

Let's not forget P Diddy who'll be there blinging and schminging
and doing anything but promoting a good new album.

And Ben Stiller is seriously going to be there acting the same
old BenStillerIsSoFunnyAlthoughMTVexexAreTheOnlyOnesWhoThinkSo
routine.

I don't expect this to be special. I think the fact that they felt the need to put it in Miami again and once again stress it's Miami, that means don't expect much when it comes to musical performances or surprises. Last year's show was the worst I had ever seen! I probably won't be able to see the show this year and I'm not all that broken up about it. I think once the show comes back to New York (and I have no idea why they ever left NY and for that matter why NY refuses to do the Grammys...) it will be a great show again. I hardly expect any surprise performances from older established rockers. It's going to be pedistrain all the way.

how in the hell can they invite R. Kelly to perform with that stupid closet song and not Gwen Stefani with her hit song "hollaback girl"? Aren't they backwards?

And Outkast will win a zillion awards this year as well, altough their album was released a good two years ago already. The best newcomer will be Gwen Stefani, cause she's only been to the business for a couple of months.

I totally agree with you. Last Year's VMA's was pure agony to sit thru. I think that location plays a major role in how good an award show will be and I've always believed that the VMA's were perfect in New York. They never should have left it. They could have done it in Madison Square Garden if they felt like they needed to leave Radio City Music Hall.

The reason it was held in Miami last year was because the Republican National Convention was being held in New York about the same time, and the Repubs drove out everyone from Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall for their big bucks events for Bush's big oil and right wing Christian contributors. Why they chose to host it in Miami again, I have no idea.

As much as I'd like to see Mariah and Green Day, I have a feeling that the performances and show this year will be equal to last year, which I have to admit was one of the weakest VMA's of all time, if not the weakest. It looks like the planning for this awards show was meant to accomodate the "stars", the Hollywood glitterati (Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E!) and the corporate bigwigs at Viacom and not the audience which it's supposed to be aimed at.
