Was he the only rapper on that broadcast? If so, he didn't represent hip-hop very well. Wrong time, wrong place.

Before his comments Kanye West was already on pace to sell 800, 000 the first week...His comments only added 100, 000 more copies...Dude was going to do his thing anyway...regardless of the comments

I think he represented it well..Hip Hop is supposed to be the voice of the powerless...at least that's how it started out...Folks that always criticize hip-hop saying that it has nothing of value to say can't have it both ways...There's a lot of things West has said that I find puzzling and laughable..But this time around the man made a statement that came from the heart and has historical precedence...

Obviously no surprise, I think we all knew this CD would do that kind of figure the first week, we must remember that the number is Units Sold to Record Stores and Re-orders not over the Counter sales. I talked to a rep at the label and they were optimistic that the numbers would be steady, they are hoping that he can maintain a "Mariah" chart presence and sell pretty much a 100,000 a week for awhile. They did say they were a little worried because 1.7 Million were pre-ordered and shipped and less than half sold that first week, they are worried that the second week drop could be about 60 %, even though probably will hold number 1 for a few weeks.

Its sad he got 100,000 more. So this is why some people buy music? Because he said something that had 0 to do with his music. Sad.

Folks on this site crack me up...I mean really, Kanye has been arrogant for sure, but dude is not a priest or a politician...he's a music artist...I don't think he wrote the book on arrogance...I mean that's par for the course when you are dealing with rock n roll especially hip-hop, which has always been about the ego trip...I think the real reason people on this site go after Kanye is because he is a hip-hop artist and some of the folks can't take a so called "non musical" act to beat on his own chest..You think I'm a big fan of Celine Dionne's work and her hamming ass attitude? No, but I respect the woman's comments...People should seperate their personal feelings for Kanye from the reality of the situation...Dude came from the heart with his statements...

I totally agree about the whole double standard issue, Celine does something and shes great Kanye does something and hes put down for it. I cant believe people even bought into Celine Dion in the first place, I cant stand this woman, talk about Phony. Im sure she cares but yet again, if you wanna yeall or cry on TV take it a step further and go to New Orleans and start rescuing and cleaning up debris if not shut up.

I thought Kanye's album was a rap classic the first time I heard it.....then the second time was even better!! Then when I heard his comments I liked the guy even more. The talent on this album would sell millions even if he said he loved Bush!!
