Forget Mother's Milk. It was all about BloodSugarSexMgik. That's where it all came together: The Rock, the Rap, the FUNK, and even some emotion emerting from their sea of testosterone.

But don't get me wrong, Mother's Milk was very good, but I think there are about 3 more Chili Pepper albums better than that.

I totally agree. Mother's milk has some of their best stuff--Taste the Pain, Knock Me Down, Higher Ground, but it's not as accomplished as it's follow up. I think people like it better either because it made the impression first or that they don't like when things become too popular. But sometimes there's a reason albums become so popular...

Yes, I favor their earlier stuff much better. They're a very good band, especially live.

Embarassing admission of the day:

I went to see the Bangles in 1986 or so (nope, Prince didn't show up). The tickets were free, at least.

The opening act was some freaks, we were like "who is this terrible band?" Well, you can guess, it was the Chili Peppers. Just shows you what a 14 year old knows about music.

About three years later I bought Mother's Milk & I haven't heard a peep from the Bangles since.

i hear they only have anthony's vocals to lay down and the new album should be done and out in november... any predictions thoughts or what not on the new album? I'm really skeptical after that piece of utter crap they released last..

John Frusciante has recently said the following: "There's heavier stuff than the band's ever done, and there's also a lot of beautiful, soaring melodies, I feel like everybody's taking their instrument to a new level." He has also cited that his favourite track off the album is entitled "Only 18". The band spent seven months writing and rehearsing before entering the studio to record. Flea has also said the following: "There are also a lot of fucked-up aspects to it, all kinds of flaws and dirt that I like to hear on records." woot!

Well, whatever it is, I just hope it sounds better than By The Way. That album was disapointing in comparison to stuff like Californication and BloodSugar.

disbelief Totally disagree. To me, FNM is a pale shadow of the RHCP. Can't stand that band.

Can't stand Faith No More? At least they didn't release this bland shit of an excuse that Red Hot Chili call music. They didn't care if they were popular or not. Red Hot Chili Peppers these days appeal to people who don't like rock music, they're the kind of band that people who like Beyonce, 50 Cent, listen to. Plus Mike Patton is a genious and superior to Anthony Kiedis in every way, the guy has got one of the best voices out there. Did you know to this very day that Kiedis refuses to play in any festival in which Patton is also taking part in?

Well, that's your opinion. Personally, I cannot stand Patton's singing, "rapping" or their songwriting. Oh, and by the way, I fucking hate 50 Cent and I'm not a fan of Beyonce, so I guess your theory doesn't hold water.
