Fleetwood Mac Rock....

In all incarnations.

In the peter green days they were a ground breaking british blues band, and many classics came out of it.

In their later most popular incarnation circa rumours all the way through to tango in the night, they recorded some of the most classic, popular rock/pop songs weve seen to date.

Lyndsey Buckingham sends chills down my spine on his solos, Stevie Nicks embittered songwriting spoke to me. John Mcvie was the reason I picked up a bass.
And Mick? Well you cant argue with him!

they are sorely missed!!! The Dance came out almost 10 years ago, and I still listen to it. Say You Will filled a little hole, but Id still rather listen to the classics.

For all the horrors of recording it, Rumours is definitely worth it. Its so rare to see an album that works so well, and can be on repeat for, well, the next 28 years!!!

bow

Anyone agree?

I love 'Rumours',but my favorite Fleetwood Mac album is the self-titled one from 1975.The last song "I'm So Afraid" is probably my favorite song by them music

I'm thrilled to see that their big three albums from the 70s ('Fleetwood Mac','Rumours', and 'Tusk') have all been remastered with bonus tracks, liner notes, etc.Does anyone know if the 80s albums are gonna get the same treatment?

"Never Goin' Back Again" is on of my favorite songs of all-time. I love it. And "Songbird" is a gorgeous tune. "Goldust Woman" rocks. I really, really love Rumours.

i wouldn't say she's a hundred times better at all. technically speaking, teena marie probably has a better voice. stevie's is quite unique. anyhow, they both have completely different styles and right now i'm just slightly more into stevie. she's a better songwriter than most, i'll give u that.

i guess i was aiming at madonna more than teena marie. not very impressed by madonna! teena voice is good, i agree, stevie just a superstar!

My dad said they sold out to pop ages ago. But he likes their really early stuff, which does indeed sound very different to their more commercial stuff. Like genesis and chicago did.

define early?

do you mean he likes all the really old bluesy stuff? cause they didnt so much sell out i think, as change all but 2 band members! But yeah, it is a totally different sound. this change did happen over like 10 years though, so it seems organic to me...

they were pretty much a totally different band in the 60s, led by Peter Green and on acid most of the time. then he left they gained 3 really important member in the 70s, and thats when the hits, money, and coke started rolling in! So maybe youre Dad witnessed that whole change thinking it was just the same band, when it really wasnt. Its easy to think about it now, in retrospect, because the 70s group were just fucking amazing, so were the original ones, but to watch it happen would have been wierd...
I, of course, am far too young to have witnessed any such thing...so its easy for me to think of them as two separate entities.

what susannah said!

plus, no, there wasnt a girl in the band back in the beginning, but then John McVie's wife Christine joined in the late 60's, then in the 70s Stevie Nicks came along.
