The Greatest: Nas

Nas is 1 of the greatest hip-hop artist of all time and 2day. He's my favorite rapper. That Jay-Z and Nas beef was a classic battle between the best rappers at that specfic moment in time. Sometime Nas blasted Jay good, sometimes Jay came back at Nas with something good. I think Nas was victorios in my own opinion. Nas has 1 of the best flows and reputation in hip-hop. Nas just does not rap about murder and drugs, Nas somestimes rap about child birth, first loves, his parents, and childhood. Also explicit sex but who doesn't. Who else on the org digs Nas or has repect 4 his work.

Illmatic-1994

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Jay Z has never made anything as gangsta as Hate Me Now or Made You Look. Jay imo has made better records though; always catering to a certain audience and always a club banger on the album.

I like Nas, but as I've stated in the past I don't like his whole "thug prophet" approach. Nas is an artist though. I never got the whole beef with him and Jay (I don't get most of these challenges)

Nas is not the GOAT imo, but he has made some classics.

hmmm I guess I would have to agree with Rinluv b/c Jigga's shit was getting lame like a can of stale beans. Jigga did right to retire. He's had some club bangers and that's it. Whereas, Nas lyric content is more relevant and his deliver is more clear. :

"Life's a Bitch" by Nas on his first album "Illmatic" is featurin' AZ. The shit is a beast. Ya'll need 2 bump that shit in Yo ride, loud as U can. The flow in those verses R crazy.

Chorus:
"Life's a bitch and then U die; that's why we get high
Cuz U never know when U gonna go
Life's a bitch and then U die; that's why we puff lye"

-Nas

Hard to find a better album than Illmatic for sure, and he is still way more lyrical than most emcees.

Whether crusin' in a six-cab or my Montero jeep
I cant call it, the beats make me fallin asleep
I keep fallin', but never fallin six feet deep
I'm out 4 dead presidents 2 represent me
Who's world is this, The world is yours"

Nas is definately one of the best lyricists/MCs, but I just wish he would step his production game up. He needs to spit over some better beats cause the production of "Streets Disciple" was terrible.

Edit: I meant to say "cause" instead of "but"

Nas is one of the ILLEST of all time. and right now, he's ON FIRE.

Check out his 2 newest guest appearances:

Kanye West ft. Nas - We Major (off Kanye's new album Late Registration)

and

Damian Marley ft. Nas - Road To Zion (from Damian's upcoming album Welcome to Jamrock)

both are 2 of the illest verses Nas has spit for a LONG time.

To me, the only thing that was wrong with Street's Disciple is that there were too many tracks...no need for a double album...And the original album contained three or four better tracks that were doper than some of the stuff that was added later on...And I have to agree..."We Major" the track on Kanye West's new album, is the truth....

4 real I got just about all of both of their albums missing one from each I believe...

Nas' Streets Desciple I think is my personal Nas favorite album. Got daym that album is tight. From hardcore underground gritty beats, ol skoo beatboxin, experimentals, 80's funk, to todays mainstream Streets Desciple was only a couple songs too much of a CLASSIC

American Way
THESE ARE OUR HEROES
Desciple
LIVE NOW
Rest Of My Life
Scuicide Bounce
UNAUTHORIZED BIO. OF RAKIM
REMEMBER THE TIMES
NO ONE ELSE IN THE ROOM
Getting Married
Bridging The Gap
War
Me and You
Thiefs Theme

great great album
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I agree with that, but Tupac's got it all. And I like his aggressive, yet stylish rap-style.

Can't argue with that at all. Pac did have his own unique flow no doubt.

Which, of course, makes no sense to me whatsoever. Whether he's "The Greatest" is, however, open for serious debate. IMHO, as long as Rakim draws breath he is the G.O.A.T.

Although, IMHO, he has never topped Illmatic, and probably never will, he consistently delivers good rhymes (tho not always great albums). He is one of the best and most talented lyricists in the genre.
