YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LAST ARTIST WHO TRIED TO COMPARE THEIR ALBUM TO THE LIKES OF A LEGEND...(ie. Terrence Trent D'Arby saying his Hardline album was better than The Beatles Sgt. Peppers) I've always felt that Terence Trent D'Arby jeopardized his career by comparing himself to the Beatles. What was he thinking?

He'd be lucky enough to make a record to rank with Miseducation, much less Nation of Millions, which a thousand Kanyes with a thousand 808s couldn't approach on their best day.
I agree with Namepeace.

well he isn't comparing albums, just artists, right?? Like i've said before, I never take Kanye's comments seriously, its just something to say to see if people get a bunch in their underwear and then laugh at them. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

jacktheimprovident said: First of all let me just say that I'm hardly a connoisseur of hip-hop, especially mainstream hip hop of the last 10 years, but if you wanna start comparing hip-hop albums to Songs in the key of life or whatever, look no further than Blackalicious' first two albums (I'm totally serious, they have a solid place in my all time favorites in any genre). Kanye West? I don't really see it. His music is certainly significantly better than most of the most visible product in that genre, but even by hip hop standards, he's far from the greatest or most innovative artist out ther.
So, basically what you typed is some bullshit. Yet, you claim not to "consume" hip hop, but then in the same sentence you say Blackalicious first two albums are solid on some Songs of Key Of Life. Humor me more, please. Kayne is very innovative, and it is obvious you have not "consumed" hip hop. By hip-hop standards he is very innovative. First off, everything he is doing goes directly against the norms of hip hop culture. Oh well, you simps will never understand hip hop, go back to listening to music by a man that wears lace.

DaX, just because j-t-i doesn't see Kanye as a genius doesn't mean j-t-i is a "simp." The fact that j-t-i listens to Blackalicious indicates more than a surface knowledge of the genre. And whether Kanye is the most innovative hip-hop artist out there is up to serious debate. Madlib and MF Doom are as innovative as they come in hip-hop. Madvillainy is far more innovative than College Dropout. But just because he's not the greatest doesn't mean he's not great. So ease back. Unless you're on Kanye's street team, it ain't that serious. What in the world is he doing that's so innovative??? I just don't get it He's sampling Shirley Bassey...that has never been done....Oh wait.
Not only has it been done, but it's been done much better, thank you! I like "Gold Digger" (although Jamie Foxx's reptition isn't neccssary) but "Diamonds" is terrible! But especially trying to use Outkast's "Sorry Miss Jackson". "Forever ever forever....(and then it gets really high and you want to kill him) [Edited 8/23/05 12:47pm] High fivin, talking shit, but you're going home alone arentcha?

Kanya West is living in a dream world if he thinks he can compete with Prince and Stevie Wonder. Oh and him backing off his dream of becoming bigger a bigger star than Michael Jackson show that this man's ego is bigger than his talent. He's not even as big as Eminem yet and he's a pathetic a*shole as well.
