Kanye West competes with prince and stevie wonder WEST PREDICTS HIS NEW ALBUM WILL BE A CLASSIC
Hip-hop star KANYE WEST predicts his upcoming album LATE REGISTRATION will be a classic, competing with the works of STEVIE WONDER and PRINCE. The confident ALL FALLS DOWN rapper, 27, releases the follow-up to his acclaimed debut COLLEGE DROPOUT on Friday (26AUG05), and he's confident it will achieve big sales - and be hailed an instant classic. He says, "Music hasn't been taken this far in years - since Stevie did it. Since Prince did it. "I'm not trying to compete with what's out there now. I'm really trying to compete with INNERVISIONS and SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE. It sounds musically blasphemous to say something like that, but why not set that as your bar?" But West, who collaborates on the album with MAROON 5's ADAM LEVINE, JAMIE FOXX, COMMON, THE GAME, BRANDY, NAS, CAM'RON and JAY-Z, admits that while he wants the album to be a huge success, he's backing away from his initial plans to become a bigger star than MICHAEL JACKSON. He adds, "If anything, I'd sabotage my career to get some of my anonymity back, or to focus more on directing movies, which is another form of production. "I would refuse to be as famous as Michael Jackson. Once I see it coming to that point, I would fall back, because I just want to be able to go to the movies." 22/08/2005 21:13 ....this is my first time starting a thread...but anyhoo i got that from contacmusic.com just wanted to see some of ur opinions on it...

[Edited 8/22/05 18:05pm] Egotism is such a turnoff, especially when it's baseless. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Kanye West competes with his own ego. It's fun to watch him and his ego duking it out right in the middle of an interview. They're both camera hogs.

I love him like a second cousin, but he is serious. Laughably serious. He'd be lucky enough to make a record to rank with Miseducation, much less Nation of Millions, which a thousand Kanyes with a thousand 808s couldn't approach on their best day. Where to begin with this mess. I'm not sure that any of Prince or Stevie's huge albums had their first singles tank so hard that they had to rush release the much more pop friendly second single out as soon as possible. What was the first single from "Purple Rain"? "Let's Go Crazy" or "When Doves Cry". I know that it was certaintly more memorable than the rantings on "Diamonds", which is mostly about your damn self and doesn't seem to have anything to do with the subject matter of the video. Also, they are musician so maybe the comparisons aren't apt either. I predict this CD won't even sell as well as the first.

He'll never be in STEVIE NICKS's league, much less STEVIE WONDER's.
And by comparing himself to P, he loses the chance to ever be taken seriously again...if he ever was to begin with. Prince has more talent in his well-manicured left pinky... well, you know the rest. He says, "Music hasn't been taken this far in years - since Stevie did it. Since Prince did it."
Kanye, my delusional friend, there are albums that have been released in the past year that have taken music farther than you ever will. "I would refuse to be as famous as Michael Jackson. Once I see it coming to that point, I would fall back, because I just want to be able to go to the movies."
Well, let's not be buying any surgical masks just yet, Thriller.

Kanye knows what he's doing. If he says it loud enough and enough times, people will start believing him. He's a smart man, like it or not, People are sheep
