I like their cover of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)". I think they are okay, but I don't like them enough to buy any of their albums. That's the way I feel about goth in general these days. I don't know if the music has gotten worse or if I've just outgrown it.

same here..of course..i don't call contemporary "goth" music goth,on the basis of two things, for of all the goth movement died a long time ago, same goes with punk, new wave, grunge or any sort of genre a singer or band who tries to brings back a phase. i dont believe in labels..actually..i listen to anything that appeals to me,i think bands who try to bring something that's aldready dead, well thier not talented enough to create something on thier own,its the lack of orginality and uniqueness is what is wrong with contemporary music..well..thats all i have to say.

sorry for the double post..it was a mistake

uh..okay.. lol its over thought thier are no more REAL goth bands out thier..its funny how the main goth bands (well except bauhaus) did not embrace the goth title so good, take for example siouxsie and rozz williams (of christian death)...they thought they were making a form of glam rock,in my opinion they knew what they were doing, they just didn't wanna embrace it..if they did..they would go down with that same title,i mean once the movement was over...or whatever.

I don't think it ever really died. I've been going out to goth clubs almost non stop for the past 13 years. Sure you don't see goth bands signed to major labels anymore like you did in the 80s, but that doesn't mean that the scene is dead and buried. It's just continuing along underground incorporating other styles like synthpop. If it was really dead you wouldn't have goth cruises and other big events like that today.

Have you seen the movie Gypsy 83? Goth is definitely still alive.

well to me.goth seems kinda of ..uh repetive..i know the scene isnt dead there just arent any bands that have moved me like christian death, bauhaus, sex gang children, siouxsie and the banshees,etc...but i must say..cinema strange is sorta of alluring...of course...the orginal goth to was appealing...the contemporary goth seems kinda of copy-cating.

I will agree with you that it doesn't have the fire it used to have when I first discovered it. I'm sure there are groups that I would like if I just took the time to really search, but I'm just not into the scene overall anymore to put in that effort.
