I was just thinking about what may have happened to Maxwell. Greatest Hits? Sounds like maybe his record company is getting tired of his writer's block or something. I like all of his albums.

Could include all the singles: 1. Til the Cops Come Knockin 2. Sumthin Sumthin 3. Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder) 4. Whenever, Wherever Whatever 5. Suitelady (The Proposal Jam) was a promo that got radio airplay 6. Luxury:Cococure 7. Matrimony:Maybe You 8. Fortunate 9, Let's Not Play the Game 10. Get to Know Ya 11. Lifetime 12. This Woman's Work (unplugged version) 13. For Lover's Only was a promo that got radio airplay ... a few bonus remixes or unreleased tracks wouldn't hurt... ... looks like he warrants a package. And hell, if Macy Gray could get one even though she only had one certified hit, I don't see why Maxwell can't have one Man, I got all them shits except Fortunate... Not sure I like that enough to get this

Does that mean it's over for him now that this is supposedly coming out? At least have one more release before a Greatest Hits CD. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Kinda sad to see a gretest hits after just 3 LP and an Unplugged album. (kinda like Macy Gray) Hope this isnt the end for him. "Thinking like the Keys on Prince's piano, we'll be just fine"

I thought Embrya was fantastic; I didnt think it was abstract at all. Maybe the songs werent as structured as most of y'all would have liked but it was definitely a different sound and I dug it.
I hope the brotha keeps on keepin' on.

This may just be the end of his Sony contract, that's it. He's way too talented not to be picked up by another record label.

Gloria Gaynor has a few... and all she has is "I Will Survive" basically.
I always wondered what a Gloria Gaynor concert would be like... maybe a 20 minute long rendition of "I Will Survive" and alot of Donna Summer songs.

He's had more than a handful of R&B hits. Name them. At least 6 major hits for Maxwell. They should have made him a household name, or at least made people outside of R&B - sorry Neo-Soul - circles aware of him.

This is purely an attempt to shit on Neo-Soul/modern R&B or whatever you'd like to call it. Perhaps it'd shock you to know that Embrya and Now were in fact top 10 albums in the Pop charts as well. Obviously, some consumers outside of the R&B circle were aware of him as well. [Edited 9/19/05 19:38pm]

If they could have one, Maxwell certainly can Ace of Base has several different greatest hits CDs out there. Granted, it's not as if they are volume 2s or anything but for some reason, their record company(companies?) can't just keep one out there for very long. Some of them might be budget sets.

I'm no Gloria Gaynor booster but her other big hit was the disco cover of "Never Can Say Goodbye". I think she had others as well (not as many and not as memorable as Donna's). She also is still recording and I think released several albums in the past few years....unlike her better known rival!

I always liked Maxwell but it is really soon for it hits CD. Probably means he is switching labels or was dropped. He has had some memorable singles. "Forunate" was probably his only very well known hit, but so what? You habve a problem with this, tell the record company.
