I hate to even turn to MTV now, because it bites! I decided to search "MTV sucks" and I found this article It's a few years old, but we can all still relate.

How did a channel with such promise, turn into this crappy reality-freakshow channel? Everytime I mistakingly flip to Mtv, there is some dumb-ass show with crappy music in the background!

* Who wants to date my mom?
* Room Raiders
* Laguna Beach
* Trailer Fabulous

What does any of these shows have to do with MUSIC???? This blows

Then, we used to have MTV2, but everytime I turn to that channel, I see "Viva La Bam" or some stupid assed show of the sort!

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VIDEOS??? TRL only show a few seconds of a video before some crazy teenager interrupts it with shout-outs And unless you are up early in the morning, you're not seeing any videos

I agree. MTV sucks. Its worse now than it was 10 years ago. Is it me or am I just getting older?

IMO they went bunky round 1990. After Remote control was over so were they.

Sky Digital here have about 30 or so music channels, about 5 different versions of MTV. You can cut that reality shit out easy.

It's true, they get worse every year. I really enjoyed MTV maybe 8 or 9 years ago, they had some cool shows with Ananda and Matt Pinfield.

the cancellation of both above programs

TRC Live and Real Sex with Dr Drew...again adding to the druge/sludge that was on there

The full embrace and then complete corporatizing of AMP followed by an almost complete retraction of the show and music and then thus killing it whenthey moved it to Sunday nights at 2am.

MTV--actually Viacom in general--can make a show out of ANYTHING. And the sad thing is people will watch. Personally I'd like to haver certain channels blocked or scrambled from my cable service. I'd immediately start with MTV, VH1 and BET and go on from there.

As for the Real World, these people go on there LOOKING to be stars.....not real, in my opinion. Everything seems staged and fake as hell.

The reason why MTV doesn't show many videos anymore is because videos get low ratings. All the crappy reality shows and other junk that is on the air is what draws the most viewers unfortunately, so that is what gets the most airtime.

I agree with you about the state of MTV, but don't blame MTV. If the audience is inclined to watch the programming, why should MTV change it?

MTV is to music what Rolling Stone is to music journalism. Things need to be changed, what can we do? Know anybody in broadcast, pirate or otherwise?

Didn't our parents say the same thing about us? My parents didn't get MTV when it first came out. Now those are the good old days. MTV is now multigenerational. These kids watching it today have parents who were watching it in the 80's.

what happened to the videos? nobody watches them. bitch and moan all you want, but they have to pay the bills, and they can't do it by just showing videos. the shows are what bring in the revenue.

man mtv used to be the shit! remember shows like love line, the blame game (funny as hell!) and rememeber that crazy vj jessie camp? omg i LOVED him! havent watched it lately, but real world seems to have went down the drain as well. best season was real world hawaii. with teck, ruthie, khai, amaya (omg she was hella crazy and hell in love with that cute brownheaded guy) and real world back to new york with coral, malik, mike and all them was hot too..malik was fiiiiine! it used to be fun. even there spring break shit has gon down the shitter. remember mtv fear factor or spring break jerry springer?? good stuff



oh and real sex wasn't dr drews show. it was love line (loved that show!). real sex was some bs show with kids in dorms and shit and they always seemed to be fuckin.

o man! another good show was FEAR....damn mtv!

yall remember the box music network? channel 96 i LOVED that channel would watch it all day til it went off. it had alot of vids on there and u could request and stuff. then mtv took em over, its now what u all know as mtv2
