I Saw Donna Summer last night!

Hi Gang! I just saw Donna Summer here in Albuquerque last night. Her concert was at one of our outdoor ampitheaters just outside a casino. I normally wouldn't post a review here of anyone, but I just wanted to let you know that Donna Summer can still sing!

Her concert featured all the favorites, including "Love to Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love." She also sang a new song ("I Got Your Love") she says is available on iTunes right now -- a very danceable track that has that Kylie Minogue sound. (Hey, it works!) The highlights, however, of the evening were surprises she sprang on the audiences: Charlie Chaplin's standard "Smile," the Beatles' "I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends," Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman," and Moody Blues' "Nights In White Satin." (YEP!!!) It was very refreshing to hear her sing other songs and, in my opinion, these were brilliant choices!

She arrived on stage, coming up from the jeweled grand-piano on a lift, and appeared under a giant disco ball and sang for nearly 2 hours straight. It was a great show and I thought I would pass along my recommendation just in case she came your way.

Let's hope a new album is on the way soon -- full of new material!!!!

"Last Dance" closed the show (of course) and - nope - she did not sing the song I will always associate with the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. She did sing a nice & short a capella version of "Aquarius" (from "Hair" - which she started her career with)... and, believe it or not, she sang it in German last night! It was the musical she did in Germany. No Italian last night however.

Wow, I thought she didn't do Love to Love You Baby anymore. I'd love to see her in concert some time.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I kind of wanted to see her when she came here but I had to work. I heard a little bit about the tracklisting (including "White Nights...", a song I'm not familar with but if I heard it, I'd probably know it) and would have been much more impressed if she did her new stuff...I'm shocked she did "I Got Your Love"...apparently she often mentions it's available but this is the first I heard she performed it. Great song! And why not a certaint show stopper like "You're So Beautiful". I've heard that "Love to Love You Baby" (I know, I know but she did it at some Univerisal Studios show and apparently is bringng it back everyon once in a while) and "I Feel Love" got cut recently so you're lucky! Sounds like a great show...I know she can still really sing. I'm really hoping for new music soon. "Angel". anybody?

"I Got Your Love" was recently issued on Itunes and she has samples of new four new songs (including "Love"). I have an idea that Univerisal might be thinking about releasing all those songs she recorded for Sony so many years ago. You can't really blame her for that deal going wrong. Record companies are fickle and frankly, Tommy Mottola, who was gung ho about having Donna on the label is kind of a jerk.

Hey I went 2 c her with my friend at Mystic Lake Casino in Minnesota about a month or 2 ago!!

I remember her singing "Love 2 Love U Baby" but I admit she seemed kinda reluctant to get in2 the groove. Her husband sang and played piano too. She still has a wonderful voice!

In recent interviews, she has said that she will be going into the studio in October to record a new album. But don't get excited until you actually have the CD in your hands, lol. She's been promising us a new album for years!

Interestingly,on September 27,Universal is releasing a 3-CD set that contains three of her old albums, remastered. However,so far,we don't know which three albums will appear in this set hmmm

Interesting...I think I've seen those collections....They just put three CDs into a box. It might not be worth it (I don't know how much they run but I saw a Luther Vandross one for under $30, not bad but if you have all her CDs, kind of pointless.
