Man I gotta go eat dinner, but this thread is gonna heat up, cuz you're saying some pretty frustrating things right there. It's in every way a risk for a top-selling hip hop artist to come out and say something like that right now. To accuse him of opportunism just kind of sours the moment for me, a gay hip hop fan.

co-sign.

Trickology is right. Kanye's move is both conscientious and calculating.

Hip-pop has made a mockery of itself. It will become the disco of its day. I believe he's sincere, but Kanye knows that if distinguishes himself now he'll be able to ride out the inevitable hip-pop backlash. Most of the hip-pop artists charting now won't survive.

I don't know where his heart is/was in making the statement but I for one applaud the fact that he had the balls to come out and say what he did. Part of whay Hip Hop is pure shit is because of the attitudes of those towards gay people and if it take Kanye West to try to kill this mindset in the hip hop community then I can only imagine better music coming out from artist, old and new. So I give mad props to Kanye.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

People..people...

you arent thinking clearly.

It is a publicity stunt in part. He needs to fuel his record to sell giving them something controversial to talk about. He is taking a page from 50. It never hurt 50 to say controversial things, in fact it propelled him to being a mogul in Hip Hop industry in 2 years. Why didn't Kanye say that early summer? He may feel strongly about this issue but it coincides with his Late Registration release.

And remember in Hip Hop the name of the game is to keep you talking and have you as an artist/celebrity on their mind.

Kanye is brilliant at this sort of thing. It's similar to his statements about backpackers or gangstas

Kanye plays a amazing game of chess. And he thinks 5 moves ahead. I don't care for his music but damn look how he is making Hip Hop take his lead.
This dude got the highest charting record for Common.

Im interested in seeing Kanye's launch for Sa Ra and how he brings them to the public eye on his label.

Notice something else:

Kanye always has something to say every month or every 2 weeks. Kanye knows he wants the public to talk about him.

Im telling you they have meetings over this sort of shit.
50 cent has taken Hip Hop to a new level by playing this angle and now people are following the 50 cent blueprint. Just get people talkin about you and don't apologize.

Kanye is sincere in his message but it has a purpose why he said it now.

I dont think you get it. What Kanye is doing could possibly fuck his record sells up. But as for as him rappin about something controversial, he did that with the "Diamonds" song and video - that shit got diamond industry heated.

And what Kanye does is completely different than what 50 does - 50 makes controversy by beefing with and dissing other rappers. Beefing and battling are a necessity and a factor in hiphop - battling is one of the founding roots of hiphop - but hip hop is not a genre that doesnt embrace homosexuality. Most of the hiphop listeners could likely turn away and not by his shit cause of this - thats just how it is. There's nothing sell-generating about what Kanye is doing. Its like playin Russian-Roulette with your career if you're a hiphop artist. How many male hiphop artists do you know are acutally gay supporters or perform at gay clubs? Very few to none. How many of them acutally accuse other rappers of being "faggots" - all of them.

50 & Game's situation is something COMPLETELY different. What does that have to do with Kanye? What are you gettin at?

because 50 cent is just like a little kid. he goes back and forth talking about people in his songs that he doesn't like, like we are suppose to care or something. I'm just saying, Kanye is right, the hip hop industry doesn't embrace homosexuality, and because he is saying that, it wouldn't surprise me if 50 cent came out with a song and calls Kanye "gay" just because of what Kanye said...its just what I expect him to do looking at his actions of how he talks about people just because they associate themselves with Ja Rule or any of other so called "ememies" or people who are against him. It's how 50 operates...like a little ass kid. But i don't think he wants to start a battle with Kanye...he might sample a little too much, but he does have a way with words.

Not really. Even if you hate 50, one thing you need to understand is that he dissed these rappers for an acutal reason. 50 doesnt seem really go "back and forth" with rappers on records, he mostly disses them once and lets them respond all they want with a thousand records, but then eventually poke a little fun at them. Kinda like on PiggyBank, he didnt diss Joe & Jada cause of their association with Ja, but because of them co-signing to Ja's disses with their own actions - if you're into the underground mixtape scene and Smack DVDs, it would all make sense to you. Jadakiss dissed him back with a lot of songs, 50 only responded once and D-Block are still spewing out alot of disses at 50. Fat Joe dissed him back, and 50 aint respond. Nas opened his mouth and dissed 50 at his free concert in Central Park, os he had it coming. Even though you may not care about 50's beefs, a majority of the fans in the hiphop community do - hate it or love it. The situation with Game was due. If it wasnt for 50 taking Game under his wing by making him a part of GUnit, Game would've been dropped from Aftermath along with the artists Joe Beast, Brooklyn and Truth Hurts and even just like Hittman. There would be NO Game today, they barely potential in him. 50 even put alot into Game's album - half the songs on the Documentary were originally supposed to be on The Massacre. When it all comes down to it, Game is just ungrateful. If somebody into your crew doesnt like a a certain person, then everybody in your crew wont even deal with that person. This would apply to G-Unit and many other rap camps cause they have that street mentality. Game, supposedly being of gang culture, is especially suppose to know this. He chose to work with people 50 didnt like, even after everything 50 done for him and being a member of his camp - thats just disloyal.

But anyway, I dont know what gave you idea that 50 is gonna diss Kanye because of what he's doin, especially since 50 has a great deal of respect for Jay-Z and loves Kanye's beats.

yeah....it shouldn't take his cousin being gay to come to this conclusion.

Common. In a society where prejudice it being celebrated, a person often needs someone they already know to make them re-think the entire picture as presented to them in every day life.

They need an emotional connection or they will just push it away with the same prejudice talk or actions they have been fed all their lives.

Makes me think about the great Chris Rock routine, something along the lines of "If you hate gay people, you know your cousin's coming out soon!"

well this is your opinion of that whole situation. I simply don't care about 50 cent, who he disses, and why and who is loyal and disloyal. I don't want to understand why he does this or that, or why other artists reply to his diss songs one hundred billion times because "in my opinion" its all just trash.

Whether he respects Jay-Z or not, he doesn't suck anyone's dick, so if there is a chance to poke fun at someone, I feel that he will and thats why I "got this whole idea" that you are talking about. And thats all I have to say about this.

I wasnt stating my opinion, I was stating the facts (Hip Hop is my primary genre interest, you see). Im letting you know why 50 did what he did cause you had it all wrong in your other post. I aint big 50 Cent fan, but when I see some wrong information, I like to correct it. But if you dont care about 50 so much, I dont why you would go into depth about what you think he does? And I still dont see why you feel 50 is gonna criticize and make fun of Kanye over his comments on "All Eyez On Kanye" - maybe you probably just want him to so you hate some more, I dont know but it really aint serious like that.

In fact, Kanye's comments really aint as serious as we thought, but the fact that Yahoo News reported it made it seem as if he was starting a movement or something. lol But it just one of them things that everybody is either gonna respect it or think nothing of it.

like i said, I don't give a fuck about 50 cent because his music is commercial trash. You keep saying over and over it ain't that serious so why the big ass paragraphs about how what you say is so-called "fact" when i really don't care. Just move on...damn it's all good. smile

And you keep sayin you dont care, but you kept addressing it though. Here's why I responded to your post:

well this is your opinion of that whole situation.

I didnt give my opinion on anything btw, so I had to let you know.

I simply don't care about 50 cent, who he disses, and why and who is loyal and disloyal I don't want to understand why he does this or that, or why other artists reply to his diss songs one hundred billion times because "in my opinion" its all just trash.

Its kinda contrary to what you said earlier, but I understood so I left that alone.

Whether he respects Jay-Z or not, he doesn't suck anyone's dick, so if there is a chance to poke fun at someone, I feel that he will and thats why I "got this whole idea" that you are talking about. And thats all I have to say about this.

You said you didnt care but you wanna keep emphasizing on why 50 will diss Kanye for his comments about gay people. Thought you said you didnt care.

So, if you wanna forget about the discussion, thats really on you. You told me "Just move on...damn it's all good", but I aint even sweating it like that.
